Overview

 

Do you know the way to beat San Jose? For the first time this season the Canucks can say yes going into a rematch game. In rematches this year the Canucks are 2-1-0 with San Jose being the only team they previously beat the first time around.

 

Coming off a game with goals, drama and vindication for the goonies fans, the Canucks look set to take their 2-game winning come back streak on the road. Horvat and Pettersson continued to light it up but the Canucks will hope for more contributions from players like Garland and Studnicka as well as better backchecking to try and limit chances. Martin is expected to start with Delia who did a fun Hasek impression last game on the bench.

 

San Jose are in their own slump, having lost 3 games in a row and struggling with Reimer still out on IR. The biggest strength they have is the best Penalty Kill in the league which shut down both Canucks attempts in their first meeting. Many sharks are in scoring slumps, Karlsson is without a goal in 9 games, Meier 6 games, Kunin 4 games and Couture 3 games. Kaapo Kahkonen will start with NHL rookie Finn netminder Eetu Makiniemi on the bench.

 

The Canucks have the chance to finally reach an equal number of regulation wins and losses and are sitting just out of the last wildcard position. Bruce used the word belief about 5 times in his post-Montreal game media interview and the Canucks will need it to avoid a victory hangover. Let's hope the Canucks start to turn it up and put together a big winning streak in December.

Last meeting - Nov 27 2022

 

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- — Andrei Kuzmenko scored at 1:12 of overtime to give the Vancouver Canucks a 4-3 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Sunday night.

Kyle Burroughs and Ilya Mikheyev also scored for the Canucks, and Thatcher Demko made 32 saves.

 

Luke Kunin scored twice, and Logan Couture also connected for San Jose. Kaapo Kahkonen stopped 16 shots for the Sharks.

 

Couture gave the Sharks a 2-1 lead on a power play at 7:05 of the third period, scoring his 12th of the season. Mikheyev tied it 1:09 later, and Pettersson put the Canucks up 3-2 on a tip-in with 9:16 left. Kunin forced overtime, tying it off a pass from Erik Karlsson with 5:15 to go.

As it stands were 5 pts up on the sharks and  could go to seven or with a loss only 3pts   if Calgary loses against minny to nite and we win we would be tied with Calgary. GCG.

Thanks, I really enjoy scouting the other teams and seeing what is going on. Always hunting for odd stats too and as a suffering writer I enjoy doing my best Shorty pregame impression from the radio days.

 

If anyone else wants to do one though just write it in the gameday sign up thread, i'll do it as default otherwise.

All off-white jerseys go hard. The only thing that is kind of questionable is the logo. Other than that, the jerseys look sick on the ice.
