Man this wasn't hard to figure out. If ye couldn't trade him let Brock walk and sign Motte instead. With the savings extend both Bo and Miller last off season. Avoid all of this BS distraction media circus.

I think we would be a better team right now with Motte instead of Brock. Would it push the needle. Hell no. Buuuuut if we were trending towards playoffs we would have the cap space this year for a hell of a rental. OOOOOOR more likely we are where we are now but we would have the cap space to take an expiring contract in exchange for picks/prospects.

This is not hindsight. Anyone somewhat paying attention could see this coming. Hindsight would be trading Miller.

Voted trade Brock.

But the right answer is Trade Kuzmenko. He's the guy that gets a return. We won't have the coin to sign him because^^^

This question does not compute.  What is the return/cost of moving each?  It's not as simple as "do we want this guy or that guy on the team?"  If moving a guy out is going to cost us assets then I think we should chill out.  Are we so close to contending that we absolutely HAVE to move someone else regardless of the cost?  I don't think so.

I can only pick one?!
My rank list would be

JTM

Brock

Garland

Pearson

wouldn’t trade the others if can pull off two of the above.  May unfortunately be time to sell high on Bo though which leaves this team in a horrible position at centre ice.

Just to flip it around for fun.....not serious!!!!

Hughes to the Islander's for Pullock and 2023 1st (Polluck has a NTC so it ain't happening)

Pettersson to the Rangers for Kreider, Lafreniere, and a 2023 1st (Kreider has a NMC so it ain't happening)

Everyone should be available except Pettersson, Hughes and Demko.

That said, trading them to just “at least get something” and accepting a low-ball offer does no good for us either. My guess is barring a long 10 game or so slide like there was under Green, there won’t be any trades until the deadline when any of our guys’ value will be at its highest.

I think even Demko should be made available if the price is right. His poor season might have hurt his value in which case we keep him but if a contender wants him and is willing to give up some key pieces of their future, I'd say trade him

horvat

kuzmenko

That is max value for return.

Must trade?

Miller

Boeser

What about everyone else like Pearson, Garland, Myers, Schenn, Dermott Bear, Mikheyev

I think Schenn and Ilya would have value. Not sure about the others

Didn't include OEL because I think he's untradeable unless we eat cap (long term) or add sweeteners which are all non starters

It seems a consensus among the media and fans the team will need to trade one or more of its higher priced forwards to allow CAP space.

There is also consensus the forward traded should be for defensive assets.

Right now the talk is about Bo Horvat... because his price would put the Canucks over CAP.

But if other forwards were traded, room could be made for Bo.

The Question in this Poll... who do the fans want to keep and who do they want to trade?

Elias Pettersson:

I'm in the minority here, but my clear answer is Elias Pettersson..............and here is why:

1) There's no guarantee that Pettersson will want to re-sign here once he becomes an RFA.  A couple seasons ago, Pettersson clearly said that he'll re-assess things once he becomes an RFA and that his goal is to be a part of a winner whether that's here or elsewhere.

2) Pettersson will get a HUGE raise (10 million+) meaning that our long term internal cap could get bloated (i.e. as an illustration, compare Toronto's top heavy cap to Boston's cap hits to its top players for the better part of a decade).

3) Pettersson is the only asset on the Canucks that will land you multiple young elite players from other teams.  Thinking Columbus?  You could get guys like Kent Johnson, David Jiriceck, etc., in a package.  NYR interests you?  Welcome Lafrennierre, Schneider, etc.   I know many Canucks fans, media members, etc., believe that Horvat and/or Miller could land you these young elite 19-23 year olds but they can't unfortunately (if they could have, a trade would have happened already).

4) Trading Pettersson would immediately sink the Canucks at or near to the bottom of the standings a la Michael Jackson style.............which would greatly increase our odds of landing a guy like Bedard or Fantilini in the draft.

So, ultimate result of moving Pettersson.

1) We land a 2023 lottery pick.

2) We land multiple elite young players, one of which would hopefully be an elite right sided defenseman (i.e. Schneider, Jiriceck, etc.).

3) We keep our long term internal cap intact since Miller (and possibly Horvat) would be our highest paid players at $8 million dollars.

I'd ideally move Miller and one of Boeser or Garland. We'd obviously have to take cap back but if we could get a 5-6M defenceman and 5ish million dollar center we'd be well on our way. Two wingers for a C and D to balance this team. Ideally one of those contracts expires in the offseason so we can decide to resign them cheaply or resign Horvat.

At this point, anyone not named Pettersson, Hughes, Demko and some of the young guys (Podkolzin, Hoglander, etc) should be fair game to be traded.

I would generally agree on those guys, but they need to assess any and all offers for everyone including them.    No matter, This Team Absolutely MUST be Blown-Up. It is a team made up of completely incompatible players that are performing the same way as they did under Benning.  They are useless together!

Stop F'ing around Frankie - grow some family jewels and pull the trigger like a Man instead of a bottom line leaky Condo builder with horse blinkers on .     Lets get this show on the road and do what MUST BE DONE.  Enough!
