Popular Post Kevin Biestra
It's fashionable now to say he wasn't anything special as a captain but I was saying it before it was cool. 4 2
Popular Post -DLC-
Was total trash for him to say what he did....unnecessary. Don't let the door hit ya. He can suck it, Miller's twice the deal he is. In fact, some of Bo's goals were simply him waiting in the slot as Miller did the work and then set up him for a one timer. He did not go to bat for his teammates and now he's all smug and swarmy. Take a hike. 4 2 4 2 1

At most, he's a $6 - 7 mil a year player. Spin it any way you want, but as his points dry up, NYI fans are not going to be happy paying him that amount. His only saving grace? He better lead them to the promised land. Problem is he was having a career year under an offensive coach, so 8.5M is worth the scoring rate he was producing at. Everyone here knows it wasn't sustainable but ho hum the Isles didn't. If we were really clever we would have resigned him a year or two ago to a 6-7M deal long term but left it too late.

Strawbone
I was happy with this trade when it happened, and I’m even happier now. Thanks Bo!
Slegr
Yeah, Bo blows. He won’t be in our ring of honour. As far as memorable captains, he’ll be beneath Luongo. 2

First of all, based on his scoring rate this year, it's his contract year. There's no way in hell he's going to maintain that, especially on that team. He's a 30 goal scorer, around 55-60 points on average. Secondly, based on his interview last night, I wouldn't want him on this team, no matter the cost. 1

Jersey class upgraded. That’s a great idea. I had already told my wife when I heard him say it that I was taking my jersey to the team store to get a new name and number on it. Done defending that guy. I was a huge Horvat fan. Not anymore. For a former captain to say something like that… I obviously seriously misjudged his character. 2 1 3
Popular Post Ghostsof1915
Dear Bo, Ok it probably hurt that you got traded. What did you expect with the hockey club and your agent at an impasse and you rejected the team's last offer? Maybe show off some of those leadership skills and learn tact. You could just have said. I'm happy to be here, and happy to help the team get into the playoffs. The fact your own new team's GM says you signed for too much, and too long a term. At least the Canucks wished you well with the new club. Enjoy your millions Bo. I thought you were better than that. Guess money does corrupt everything. 2 2

Stop listening to the clip right after he talks about the NYI and it sounds like a normal response. Then he goes on to add the bit about Vancouver and here we are... That’s the part that pissed me off. It was unprompted and unnecessary. It was a purposeful shot at the team and the fans. Even his facial expression while he said it. He meant to be a dick about it. Classless. 2 2

As far as memorable captains, he’ll be beneath Luongo. Lot of people around here had already jumped the gun and put him ahead of Don Lever. I think a lot of people already had anointed him 5th after Henrik, Linden, Smyl and Naslund...and based on what really. Iron Man Lever has him beat if you ask me. Doug Lidster had a short captaincy but a better run as a Canuck (same as Andre Boudrias). I had Horvat below Kurtenbach as well. Oddleifson and Kevin McCarthy had short captaincies...were they really lesser Canucks? Don't get me wrong...Bo wasn't dog crap as a captain and he had a good run as a player. 200 goals is relatively serious business in this franchise. Bo was a professional. But there was nothing about the teams he led that had a character I would want perpetuated really. We kept looking to JT Miller as the uncrowned leader. The exception is the bubble playoff run and Bo more than did his job there but that's his big claim in nine years as a Canuck and a good portion of them captain...that and his breakout goal scoring this year...before being traded and falling off a cliff in that regard in New York. Good player, very good faceoff guy, solid 20 goal scorer and some 30 goal years. But Dennis Ververgaert was a more impressive player for the Canucks and 35-40 years later the vast majority of posters ON THE CANUCKS SITE probably don't know who he is. Bo didn't do much that is going to stand the test of time. At least not in Vancouver. I wish him luck on the Islanders but he didn't seem to learn much from Ryan Kesler having gone heel and even voicing his regrets about it. Aside from Bo not having the personality to be a fun villain...the Islanders is where he is going to make his most money but like Kesler, it may be Vancouver that was his hockey legacy. Not much point in burning bridges Bo. Edited April 9, 2023 by Kevin Biestra
Warhippy
He's not wrong about the fans here. We're awful. But to crap on the city and the fans that supported a decade of failure is just classless. Especially looking at our record post Horvat and seeing were one of the top 6 teams in the entire league since the trade. It really makes it look like Bo was in fact part of the anchor/player issue and nothing would make me happier than seeing him and his contract wink back to the 60 point average player he is and miss the playoffs for the foreseeable future like most expect from the Islanders with more issues with cap and a lack of prospects and depth than we have

He is about to get booed for the first time ever his first game back The guy didn' t care about his team mates.... he didn't stick up for them The guy didn't care about the team........... he wouldn't take a team friendly deal. And now we see how he felt about the fans. Do people still think Miller was the cancer in the dressing room? I think it's pretty obvious now. 1 3

Well the funny thing is the more of a fuss we make about a fairly minor comment for the home fans in New York...the more we kind of do his work and make his point for him. Hey man...too bad he didn't seem to like his time here. Happy trails Bo.

Hey man...too bad he didn't seem to like his time here. Happy trails Bo. Thing is, I never was satisfied with how he turned a blind eye when our guys were being mugged. Casually skated off. I know the comparison was that Linden didn't fight but Linden crawled on his hands and knees with broken ribs for this team. He was all in. It was fairly minor but also hugely revealing. Bo is about Bo and maybe that was more of an issue in the room than we knew. The fact that he chased the $$ and is now throwing us under the bus? To get "likes" from his new fans? Real captains don't need to do that...their play will be enough. I'm pissed...I supported this guy fully/completely. And, as a fan, he's making a point that we're just putting the exclamation mark on. You can be happy to be in a new home without trashing where you have been. A place that really helped you get there. I am SO happy management saw that the right/first choice was Miller. A guy who wants to be here and it shows. A guy happy to set others up and celebrates their goals more than his own. Something to that. 1 2

A place that really helped you get there. Linden didn't fight...but it wasn't because he was afraid or even reluctant...he was just so damn bad at it that it would demoralize the team if he did. Aside from that he hit guys through the glass. Now of course he wasn't sending guys flying like Eric Lindros did every game but he played a physical game and he was also a vocal leader. He would get on Pavel Bure for dogging it in practice. Bo's comment in New York is actually kind of weird. It almost seems desperate and pathetic like he's trying to score points since he is performing well below expectations in scoring goals. Anyway, I can sympathize. I was never a huge Horvat supporter - didn't criticize him either, just wasn't that invested in him - but if I had been, I would probably take what he said kind of personal. 2
