That's going to be a hefty price tag for a team already carrying several hefty price tags.  They do have a lot of cap coming off, but those players will all need to either be re-signed or replaced and that's not going to be cheap either.

Not saying they won't, but there'll be cap issues in NJ for awhile if they do.

They're a top team in the league. No reason not to go for it large contract or not. Most top teams have cap issues.

That's debatable.  The guy has been loitering in their system for awhile and has been passed by Bahl.

He's closer to Rathbone than he is to a top tier prospect.

Isn't he the 1st round pick that Tampa received in the Miller deal, which

was traded to NJ?

That’s incorrect.

Mukhamadullin had been in the KHL the past few years.

The only time he’s spent in the system was last year in AHL playoffs playing 3 games.

He’s a long term prospect that’s been on loan for a bit.

Bahl was drafted two years prior and was a NA prospect so he hopped into the system sooner and is further along in his development.

He just also had a breakout season in the KHL this year.

By system I mean he hasn't made the big club.  If he was such a top tier prospect, he'd be there by now.  Especially over Bahl.

Either way, he's not the high end prospect some people make him out to be.  He is literally their version of Rathbone.

Overall SJ got a solid return for Meier.

Sure, he's a damn good player, but his best year was last year

where he scored 35 goals/76 points in 77 games.

This year, 57 games, 31 goals/52 points, - 19.

That is not a $10 mil a year player.

Obviously, they can negotiate lower than the $10 mil QO, but he's

going to want a big payday, and he better be producing more than he is.

And who knows, maybe SJ knew he wasn't going to sign long-term,

or wanted to cash in before it was too late.

He’ll probably sign an 8x8

He’s a Russian. That’s a factor you haven’t considered. He’s a long-term prospect. He was never gonna hop over to NA right away.

Bahl also 2 years older and is further along in his development.

He’s broken records for most points as a 18 year old KHL defenseman and is currently having a breakout year.

His potential is a greater than Bahl.

Maybe, but his numbers were bound to drop off playing on the shit team that SJ have, where only Karlson is doing any good. I think he'll do well in NJ come playoff time.

SJ obviously tearing down the whole team and rebuilding. Be interesting to see how long it takes for them to become a force again.

Mukhamadullin isn't really in their system, he's been in Russia for the majority of his career since being drafted.

he's in the KHL again this season where he put up respectable numbers.

67gp 6g 19a for 25 pts, 35 pim +16

He has already signed his ELC.  It's NJD that is loaning him there - it's not a KHL contract.
