Kellan Lain Talk

This is kinda weird haha but last night in my dream, Kellan scored the cup-winning goal for us against Detroit ::D

Now...

If this came true in 3-5 years...

WOW.

Kellan as our 4th line center, scoring the biggest goal of his career.

Lain has his first ever AHL goal tonight, scored in the first period vs Abbotsford.

Edit: Lain has now added a second goal!

That's awesome, what line is he playing on and how was his skating? Face offs etc?

Best game of his career.

Best game of his career so far

Watch this kid to take over from Sestito sooner or later... Lain is versatile too playing C or LW... Sestito is simply too slow and limited in skills... I would also promote Archibald too as he got more potential to help this team.

Nothing wrong with a big kid who can skate and win faceoffs. He already had 2 of 2 4th liner qualities that are better than Sestitio, and both have to do with actually playing hockey...like with the puck and stuff.

Sestito has done his job this year. Hitting, protecting teammates, holding his own against heavyweights. That said, his -8 is abysmal.

Lain will be an awesome fit on the fourth line, hopefully next season. We may see Dalpe or Welsh progress into a third line role (I have my money on Dalpe).

If Lain develops into a 4th line version of Malhotra at his best. Fans should be ecstatic about him. Hits, strong on the forehead, reliably defensively and strong in the face off circles. If focuses on these 4 key areas, he should become a staple on Anyone's 4th line. If he can develop just a bit of offence, even better. Can't judge Lain on the points he puts him, he's a prospect you have to watch him play every night to be able to get a correct gauge on him and that's because of the player he should develop into. That's my thoughts on Lain anyways

I like what Dalpe is starting to bring. The 4th line is getting more ice because of Dalpe's progress as a defensive player. Lain..Dalpe.. Gaunce, Mallett some competition for that spot

I really thought he might challenge for a spot this year, but we all could see he wasn't quite ready for that. The development he's getting in the AHL to be more than just a faceoff/defensive specialist should help him for next year, and with his size and aggressiveness he could help that line out for sure.

Sestito lacks in a few things, sure, but he does have a good touch around the net. Lain's still figuring that out at the pro level and doesn't have the stats to quite back up that he'd be better offensively than Sestito, but he does appear he'll be the better all around player.

We know Sestito can handle himself in a fight as well, and while Lain has size I don't think he's quite the same level of pugilist as Sestito at this point either. I'm not sure we've needed that so much anyway, and a line of Archibald, Mallet and Lain would be scary enough for most teams without the need for a true heavyweight.

i was going to post about a line like that but you beat me to it! i think archie is ready so if lain and mallet keep progressing that would be a fantastic 4th line.
