Ray Ferraro is on TSN 1040 saying anytime you have surgery that affects your skating the next year is going to be tough and you'll be a step behind.  Just because the surgery was successful does not mean you're 100% healthy.

Brock Boeser is a guy who immediately believed his career was about to come to an end after the collision. We should all be supporting Boeser as this is not easy for him either. He clearly is not 100% yet and we will all know when he is. We should all be glad that he is skating and playing hockey, the goals will come with time.

Why do some assume it's his injury last season that's causing him to not score? Sounds like an excuse. His injury wasn't as serious as it looked, he fully recovered. If anything, Brock hit the weights a little too hard over the off season and maybe he's playing too heavy? It's only 3 games and he's having a slow start in his second season. It happens,.

The problem with Boeser right now is that he is shying away from things he did so easily last season. Confidence could very well be the case. If he added more weight he shouldn't be scared to get into puck battles. He has been making some horrible passes due to what I believe is the fact that he doesn't want to be involved in any physical play.

It can be, but most likely isn't.

Unfortunately more likely than most would like to believe. All subjectivity aside, his shooting percentage last year was anomalously high. That right there should tell you that expectations were too high and need to be tempered. It's very unlikely in my mind that he's a 40-goal scorer (in fact I would put money on the fact that he is not).

It doesn't occur to you that his shooting percentage is high because he has a much better and more accurate shot than most players? While many players are happy to just get their shots on net, hoping for rebounds and deflections, Brock sees holes, aims for them and hits them. His skill level is "anomalously high" too, whatever you choose to believe.

Respect for Vasilevskiy for recognizing and praise of scorer who beat him. Matt Murray could take some notes from him.

lol Probably to figure out Brock's shot tendencies. ;)

That being said, it's nice to see players recognized like that.

RE BB's weight gain. The guy must have been told to do it by management and surely they realised the risks involved. ie loss of pace, centre of gravity etc. He's probably a little tentative and getting used to his new frame. He didn't exactly have a solid pre-season of fitness right? Sure he's just behind by a few games before he gets up to speed

Doubt management had anything to do with his bulking up. Boeser went through a pretty severe, season ending, injury last year. Recovery would have been difficult and he was likely doing much more strength training then cardio. High impact cardio is really uncomfortable when recovering from spinal injuries and first priority is keeping the back and core strong. The cardio and explosive will return as the season goes on and his body regains game form.

This makes sense. At least Boeser's shot is still there evidently. Thank you Killorn for helping Boeser out! I think he needed that bit of confidence!

Just noticed that Boeser has a point in each of his last three games and seems to have woken up. If Pettersson is out at all for an amount of games, now would be a great time for him to start scoring goals in lieu of Pettersson.

So umm...is Boeser still in a slump?  He has 2 goals in his last 3 games and 4 points in 6 total games.  Only in Vancouver would this ever be considered a slump.

I hope most fans with brains would realize that a 4-game point streak isn't a slump. He has awoken, and not a moment too soon with Pettersson's injury.

Nice game winner but still didn’t think he played a very good game. Seems off and a little late in to most situations, really feel it’s Horvat and Baertschi driving that line and that Brock’s a bit of a drag on them.

But its nice to see the points starting to pile up anyway, maybe he gets going as his confidence grows.
