Alex Burrows - Where does he fit in 2016/17?

I still feel we're hanging on to some players too long.I love pom pom stuff but with Gaunce/Grenier/Zalweski type fresh faced 3-4 liners waiting...and waiting to prove they're worth.

I think Burr could be mentoring in Utica training the new rookies for us.

It's not about the contract size either...that's been a given for awhile now.

Sedin Sedin Hansen

Rodin Sutter Eriksson

Baertschi Horvat Etem

Burrows Gaunce Dorsett

Edler Tanev

Hutton Gudbranson

Sbisa Tryamkin

Extras: Granlund, Kenins, Grenier, Virtanen, Pedan, Biega, Larsen

We officially have too many people on the roster, I might even be missing some players. But I'm glad we kept him. We need to move a couple of forwards hopefully for some picks before the season starts imo.

At this point in his career, Burrows is the ultimate utility player...he will most likely move up and down the line up (1st to 4th; 4th to 1st)...play on the PK...do a little PP time near the opposing blue paint...he will do it all and will do anything that is asked of him.

Apparently he played through injuries last season (I think I heard it was the hips...can't remember exactly where I heard it -- maybe TSN1040?...did anyone else hear this?).  If this was indeed the case and Burrows can get to full health, I see a comeback season for him.  Enough to secure a one year deal at $2.0M for 2017-2018 with the Canucks or the Habs.  Or the Ducks.

this guy has spent his whole career facing adversity ..      He has overcome astronomical odds and It wouldn't surprise me if he proves the doubters wrong again .

I have to believe its one of the biggest reasons he's still a valued member of this team

He works his ass off and is a great role model fro the younger generation ..  in the sense of  ,  if you work hard and believe in yourself , you can do anything

I see him as a 3rd line penalty killing specialist who pisses off the other team and scores a few clutch goals .

the guy you love on your team but hate to play against .

sure he may have lost a step with age and how he plays the game but you know hell just come out harder next year

They are not going to play Dorsett with Baertschi - Benning says he needs to play with skilled players.

WD doesn't like Baertschi with Horvat.

Benning doesn't want him on the 2nd - which WD already said will be Sutter-Hansen.

So the open spots for Burrows are:

X Sutter Hansen

X Horvat Dorsett

Baertschi Granlund X

He's a Swiss army knife. Can play whatever the heck he wants.

Regardless of anything, he should always be on the first PP unit. He's the only one on the team that can provide a screen

I think he wants the 2LW position with the training and conditioning hes been doin this summer.

I'd like to see how this lineup would fair

Sedin-Sedin-Rodin (Rodin is a sniper, lets see what damage he can provide with them)

Burrows-Sutter-Eriksson (Could very well be Burrows year)

Etem-Horvat-Hansen

Baertschi-Granlund-Dorsett

Critique away lol

The title says it all. Where does Alex Burrows fit with the Canucks next season?

We can talk about all the off ice intangibles that he brings, but what about on the ice? He is far from the player he was when he was scoring 20-30+ a season.

I just want to open up a dialogue to see where everyone sees him moving forward.

3rd line. Next year, 4th line for $1,000,000.00/ 1yr deal, re-sign until he decides he's done.

Then it's coaching in Utica until he's the Canucks coach.

I'm still not convinced that Willie knows what he's doing. His deployment, kindly put, is awful. His unwillingness to mix things up is just as bad. I'm still not sold on Sutter as a 2nd line centre.

Hansen with the Twins worked fine, the reason it worked fine is because there was no one who could score like Hansen did when given the chance to play with them.

Burr has stated he has worked on his speed in his off-season regimen. Last year he played through injuries and was all over the place in the lineup.

Hoping for a 15 goal 20 assist season, and whenever our team needs a lift put him up with the Twins.

Still is a decent PK and PP presence, so its not like he is worthless.

I want to see Alex Come back and burn everyone who dubs him washed up.

At worst he will be a fourth line unofficial playing coach.

At best he will see great success on the pk and manage to squeeze out 15 goals.

Go Alex. Retire a canuck and be employed by the Canucks for the rest of your career.
