McCann playing with Crosby/Guentzel.. Guddy playing top 4 mins. PIT has been picking it up, what a world. Sid coming on as the best player in the league again IMO.

@drummer4now He sure wasn’t playing on the top line in Florida and still managed 8 goals. I fail to see how he couldn’t make the Canucks lineup. He’s got more goals (this season and career) than the other guy we drafted in the first round that year and I wouldn’t call that guy a wasted pick either. Doesn’t make McCann great but still makes him useful on a team that need more goals.
What I’d call a waste is the trade. Not that Guds was a waste either only a very bad fit with the team given the personnel/system.

@NewbieCanuckFan if I recall McCann has 4 of his goals in 2 games this season. That's pretty bloody woeful honestly
-
@Warhippy one of Beagle's two goals this season was an empty netter. But seriously, just took a quick look and he's had one two goal game (in only just over 12 minutes of icetime) which he got as a Pen. Granted, even if it was zero two goal games, 8 goals as Panther isn't anything special. Remember though, he was used as a checking center with the Panthers unless I'm mistaken. And like Jake, he's only 22 years old. Still has some upside.

Jagr is 47 today, crazy he was still in the league soo recently.
-
Do you think it's more impressive for Howe to have played at age--what was it?--52 in the early '80s NHL, or do you think it's more impressive for Jagr to have played at his age in the modern league?
I'm inclined to think Jagr has the edge here with what the conditioning, etc. is like today, but it could be an interesting discussion.
I love papa Jags.

If it's all just profanity, do the mods a favor and run around the block, speed bag or some other outlet. Leave the keyboard alone.
-
Hey friend, can we open up the PGT again please! Seems to me you should be filtering out the profanities in one place, now they're spreading like locusts to other threads, harder to govern. No I don't want to be a mod.

Matthews 7G in 3.5 games. What a gift TO.

Lets face it Toronto is trying to buy a Cup,(sorry no way Toronto) soon they will have to unload several star players because they are all in on the money cap-hit planning. Some of their prima donnas(cough Mathews)will soon price their way to not giving the Leafs a choice but to get rid of them or decimate the team.Man,I really love seeing the Leafs lose.
Like the Boston Red Sox 260 million dollars player salaries (or some ridiculous amount) for one season while other teams are no where near that amount, the plan is just buy a winner, for crying out loud.

17,900 in Vegas tonight for a preseason game. Genius idea to get a team there...

"I’m legitimately stunned by their support but let’s also see what happens when the Raiders are in town and the Knights hit a skid"
A couple things to consider....
While the Raiders have a unique brand name (so strong, their fans will follow that team even after moving from one city to another), they're the worst kind of corporate welfare bums. Despite this strong brand loyalty (ie., they'll be VERY profitable regardless of where they play), their new arena will at least partially be paid by PUBLIC funds (they use this as a bargaining chip whenever their owner(s) decide to move - and you know they will move again at some point based on their history). The Golden Knights arena was 100% privately funded to my knowledge.
**** the Raiders (and I say this once being a fan of the team....back when they were originally the Oakland Raiders).

Great Sutter interview just now, should be up on 650 in an hr or two.
-
I missed a chunk of it coming from the car to the house.
-Was happy to see the 3 FA signings, happy to not have to play against them. He was matched up with all 3 in 2017-18
-New guys will cover the defense with him, while the kids are tasked to offence
-Talked about Gaudette, Juolevi, Pettersson and his own experiences with coming into the league and confidence.
That's all I can remember, it's worth a listen Sutter is a good interview.

So Jake didn't file for Arbitration rights, was qualified and remains unsigned correct?

Love seeing a guy I've been so high on for years becoming so successful. Mark Scheifele is a top 10 player in this league. Also, met his cousin last summer, pretty gal was wearing his custom #55 hat.
-
Jeremy Roenick is....
Not my kind of guy.
-
Borgstrom and Donato with NHL goals now. Good inspiration for Gaudette this offseason. Safe to say he won't be staring at his Hobey Baker award all summer!!
-
I'm surprised that people are surprised that BG is awesome.
-
Really the only thing holding him back is that his hands can't quite keep up with his mind most of the time. Gaunce thinks the game very well, just needs to improve his finesse with the puck to become a more consistent scoring threat.
Pretty much as consistent as a 23-year old can be defensively, though. Probably the thing that's going to keep him in the league.

So, reservations needed for Sportsbar? They're full for Saturday. Is sitting @ bar ok for food?

Halladay, always a Jay. He was an unbelievable bright spot for Canada and won 22 on a .500 or sub .500 team. Legend.

Can anyone offer some good hockey podcasts on Spotify? Spittin' Chiclets is great btw. Great inside stories from ex NHLers and guys like Friedman and Ferraro. Funny to hear them cuss.

Mad respect for Cogliano 700+ games straight. Never missed a game in his career. Also, 5-0 OTT in CGY. Madness.
