MayRayDown
Spezza is over a PPG in his career and has 52 points in 56 playoff games. But yeah the doods clearly terrible and Kesler is ++++ better xD who has more value a 7 million rental or someone with a reasonable caphit for 2 years? all you ever do is try to label everyone as homers
Smashian Kassian
If we could do something around Edler+ for Spezza I would look at it, no interest in Phaneuf though.
FlyLow_
People actually want to trade Kesler for Spezza? For real? wow. Just wow.

But yeah the doods clearly terrible and Kesler is ++++ better xD Kesler hasn't been a threat for just under 3 years, but he's clearly THE marquee piece on the market because he won a Selke Trophy in 2011 right? Right?
SamJamIam
His cap hit is 7 but still, if the team could somehow keep Kesler and get Spezza, I'd be all over it. Maybe Ott could retain a little of his salary but even if they didn't. The only issue is how much Spezza would want going forward beyond next year. That actually wouldn't be an issue since his salary actually decreases by a million per year. He was 5M this year, 4M next year. It makes sense that he would expect significantly less than 7 or even 6 million. It just depends what you give up to get him. I would totally love to snag Spezza though. Our veteran mentorship of the young Canucks would be set then.
theminister
The only way this really works for the Canucks is if Kelser moves to wing and is fine with it. Kes could be considered the best available winger on the market so acquiring a centre and moving him to wing may be better for the team than dipping into UFA for a top 6 forward. Spezza would be Kes' best line mate since Sundin-Demitra. Spezza can produce offence by making players around him better.
Henrik Kesler
People, Spezza is a career PPG player. How is this a 'trash' player? HOW?To add, he's the same age as Kesler, has more 30 goal seasons than Kesler. More 20 goal seasons than Kesler, but yeah he's trash.
Lui's Knob
Sedins with kass and spezza with heatley (UFA) and burrows would be good if Kesler goes for pouliot and sutter...
wallstreetamigo
I would take a run at Dion if TO was willing to take on Booth. Phaneuf - Bieksa can still be money in the bank in my opinion. For the other teams scorers
Coconuts
Spezza would be intriguing, but not for the price Ottawa would want for him. Phaneuf..? No thanks, hard pass. Let the Sharks nab him.

If there was a player who would be great for Kesler on the wing it would be Spezza.

asian player
I could see Edmonton going for both Yakupov for Phaneuf RNH for Spezza and Neil They wouldn't do that since they aren't deep in center. If they do trade RNH, it's a guarantee that they draft Draisaitl

khay
Spezza centering Kesler would look nice, Sedin-Sedin-Burrows/Jensen Burrows/Horvat-Spezza-Kesler Burrows/Horvat/Matthias-Richardson-Kassian Or, at times we can deploy Spezza and Kesler on separate lines to get three balanced lines of, Sedin-Sedin-Jensen Higgins-Spezza-Burrows Horvat-Kesler-Kassian or some other combination involving Horvat, Matthias, Richardson. If a deal can be made for Edler+Hansen+B-level prospect (Gaunce), then we should make it. If they ask for 2014 1st + Hansen + A-level prospect (Horvat), then it's a no go. If 2014 1st + Hansen + B-level prospect? I guess unless there is a really good prospect that we like, maybe we should consider trading this year's first? Hard decision for sure.
