It's no secret he does not put the effort in to improve like EP or Bo

He does not look to be interested in putting in the extra effort to be better

Like on the play you mention , he does not look to want any opportunity to be potential hurting, whether it's blocking a shot or getting in someone's face

He looks like a younger kid quite content to skate around the outside, taking low percentage shots from out wide that miss the net and run play the other way and earn a very good wage

Maybe just before his contract is about to expire and he matures a bit, he will try harder for his next contract an impress and have a breakout season

It is my opinion if he does that , that then is when we trade him (If a good return is presented). He is not motivated enough to be better it appears he does not have the drive as the above players or any Tzachuk (even younger ones) that is when we trade him- Trade high for once in the Canucks history on a player, rather than always buying high with guys having a career year and never attaining that again

Great accurate post!    Nothing to add to this.  AMEN !

Kreider was much better than Jake to start off. Jake hasn't even yet reached the heights of Kreider's rookie season.

That said, I'm a proponent of continuing patience with Jake. While he's sometimes frustrating, he's still had notable improvements in every offensive category this year. Let's celebrate that and hope the trend continues for next year.

Virtanen drives into 127th in all-time Canuck scoring with his goal tonight.  Hey Garry, you dropped your 129th ranking.

126.  Mike Robitaille D 174 10 50 60
127.  Jake Virtanen RW 207 32 27 59
128.  Zack Kassian RW 171 32 27 59
129.  Dixon Ward LW 103 28 31 59
130.  Garry Valk LW 172 24 35 59

I think the only question here is, who in the blue hell is Mike Robitaille??

Tom Wilson 6' 4" 220 lb.  Jake is 6' 1" 212 or 215 lb.  I'd say there is a bit of a difference in size.  Also, I wouldn't want Wilson on my team.

Why not Wilson on EPs wing, I would say you would want him!!!!!!

Not really. I am not a fan of a guy that spends more time suspended than games played.

Trading a 22 year old Virtanen, while still on an upward trajectory, would be a massive mistake.

Hopefully Benning and Aquilini don't fall for all the whining.

JV going to play LW with EP40 and BB6 tonight....   Please work.  What a great opportunity for Virtanen and that could be a great line in the future, I hope it works.

This plus Green's line juggling has to slow down at some point.  I get changing it up if it doesn't work but how can you tell after 3 shifts.

I think the answer is more mullets.image.jpeg.e173b00bd5ce0381863036dcf0ea2761.jpeg   Image result for grownups cast pics

Yeah I worry that line will have two shifts then Leivo will take JV's spot.

As for Green I hope Patterson's last question to Green is  'Any chance you grow back a mullet in the offseason?'

Have to agree.  How you gonna know what Jake's got until you let him free?

Overcoaching won't help him any, he's not built that way.

But, perhaps Jim already decided.

So much for that left wing thing, giant opportunity tonight playing with our two best and he looked clueless out there

He had the puck entering he o-zone on the wing with Pettersson wide open, and Jake shot. I think he also missed the net. He doesn't have good awareness or vision. And he rarely makes a nice pass. Frustrating player.

First game back from injury and first time playing LW in the NHL. Obviously he should have fit in instantly, right?
