awalk
Damn, so no picks in the 2nd or 3rd round this year now? In a deep deep draft too

TheRussianRocket.
Good grief some of you overvalue picks. Thank you SN. I thought I was the only one lol
Tortorella's Rant
This is NOTHING like the Nonis/Gillis era of trading 2nd rounders for aging vets. This is a guy who has equal potential to any player the Canucks could acquire with a 2nd round pick. Baertschi is simply expediting the process the same way Forsling was flipped for Clendening. Definitely. It's part of the retooling process. Why draft someone with a second rounder when you can trade it for someone of that sort of value who is in his early 20s. Much, much less waiting on our part.
Gollumpus
inb4 people who don't know crap about Baertschi giving their EDUCATED OPINION on how this is an awful trade Great trade. He'll do well. I like to look at the other team's sites for an opinion. It looks like they agree with you (and others) who say this is a great trade for the Canucks. http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showthread.php?t=1846641 regards, G. aGENT
Fair hockey deal. Benning continues to speed up the retool by swapping futures for almost nows. Kid has the capacity to be really good in a year or two.
shazzam
Because we can't trade higgins for a 2nd to replace it in the offseason right? i highly doubt higgins can fetch a second in the offseason
Magikal
Good grief some of you overvalue picks. Amen. It's a solid deal for Vancouver. Calgary gave up way too early on Sven. His ceiling is sky high.
TOMapleLaughs
We just traded a 2nd rounder in a VERY deep draft for a guy who's struggling just as much as Shinkaruk is to score goals at the AHL level, when we already had Shinkaruk. And we traded that 2nd rounder to Calgary. Good job. At least there's some solace in knowing that Calgary won't do anything with that pick. EmilyM
CDC: "WHAT? A 13th overall pick a couple years ago is NOT worth our 2nd round pick! Oh, but Higgins is totally worth a 2nd round pick somehow."
Heretic
Future is bright gotta wear shades. Sven looks like a swell addition to our prospect pool.

TheRussianRocket.
JB say he won't give up picks...gives up a 2nd in one of the deepest drafts since 2003. Picks up 2 of the smallest players possible. Don't be stupid. Baertschi is >>> 2nd. You know he has 1st line potential right ?
theminister
a 2nd rounder in a deep draft. If you don't like it then it should provide confidence to the rest of CDC.
Everybody Hates Raymond
JB say he won't give up picks...gives up a 2nd in one of the deepest drafts since 2003. Picks up 2 of the smallest players possible. 5'11/190lbs is now the smallest player possible? Also, the Canucks aren't Boston. Use your bloody head. We don't need to get bigger... Jesus. Scottish⑦Canuck
Mass hysteria. This place hasn't changed at all. Good trade.
CanuckofSteel
I'm good with the trade because for some reason I thought we didn't have our 2nd round pick for this draft. Hopefully Sven Baertschi becomes a beast for us!
soshified
Watch fans gonna complain about a 2nd rounder thinking 100% sure that its gonna be a NHLer for a 22 year old scoring forward who some already dislikes him cause he's 5'
250Integra
The Canucks will get drafts picks at the draft for sure, but this trade is a great one for the Canucks.
