Brisbois with an assist yesterday and +1.

now up to 3g, 14a - 17 pts. +5 in 23 games.

He's doing really well. I really think he'll make the team next year. He's a real solid defenceman. He won't wow by no means but he just puts up points. This makes Tanev expendable imo.

That's a big stretch. He seems like a dependable and level headed D, but that's a big step to go from the Q to the NHL. I'd expect a couple years in the AHL before we see him regularly, but I'd love to be surprised.

I'm thinking that many fans are assuming that young d-men can make the jump easily from Juniors. Both Hutton and Stecher were college players and 22 when they made the jump. While I expect both Tanev and Edler will be gone within 3 - 4 years the completion for a playing spot in Vancouver will be far tougher. We have to hope that Joulevi will be the next young d-man to crack the lineup but at a minimum I see him in Utica for a season.

It may change but Tanev is our best defensemen just entering his best years as a player. I think trading him now is a bad idea. Especially not for Brisebois just because he's doing fairly well in junior.

Sounds like he's progressing really well. Too bad he didn't make Canada though.

TSN listed him as a second pairing D. on the practise roster of team Canada yesterday....so what is this about not making Canada?

Well that's good news. I thought only Boeser and Juolevi made it.

Not holding my breath on Brisebois making it. We see this every year with team Canada. They play politics instead of building the best team.

As a 3rd round pick and and lesser known player he's going to have a much tougher time despite his play in camp. Same thing happened with Corrado.

Ahh, dont compare Brisebois to Corrado... I had high hopes for this kid. Corrado isn't going to be that D people thought he would so maybe the guys back then had it right

Corrado was a pretty well regarded junior player that was captain of his team. He deserved his selection to camp, but after getting goals in all his games he was cut in place of a higher profile D-man that ended up having a poor world juniors. All I'm saying is don't be surprised if he gets cut regardless of the camp he has.

Corrado is still a good prospect, unfortunately the leafs decided to get greedy and ruin his career by claiming him and not playing him. He would likely be playing bottom pairing for us right now had he not been claimed. Not bad for a 5th round pick.

If Corrado couldn't make our blue line or torontos then he is probably not going to make it as an NHLer full time. He is still young but you'd have expected more out of him by now.

Those lines are in no particular order. Strome and Jost will be on the first line, for example.

There's no way Brisebois-Clague is the 2nd pairing on Team Canada. I'd actually argue that both have next to no chance of making it to the final 7.

And based on what I've heard, no one outside of CDC will be surprised if Brisebois doesn't make it

Didn't even really get a legit chance on either team.

Regardless, for a 5th round pick to get even that close to the show is pretty good. The average 5th rounder is more likely to toil away in the minors or overseas,

I take that back actually. I could see Brisebois as the 7th d-man if they decide that there's already enough offense in the top 6 and that Mete or Girard won't be needed as a PP specialist. But the top 6 is Chabot, Juulsen, Lauzon, Myers, Fabbro, and Bean. Clague has no chance.

I think this is the right call. It won't be a big surprise if Brisebois does not make the team. But he has a decent shot.

Quite a few people are saying that he one of best D's in camp in his own zone. You can't built a defense entirely of offensive D's, especially if most are fairly small. At 6-3 and 190 Brisebois has good size and good reach and is a guy who can play on the PK or shutdown 5-on-5. From what I have heard my guess is that his chances right now are maybe 50-50.

Biggest mistake team Canada has made in the past. Trying to build a team out of offensive stars rather than a complete team.

The best teams Canada has iced were built on both elite offensive talent as well as defensive talent.
