At the right dollars and term, sure why not? But not worth overpaying for especially in term. It will haunt the team sooner rather than later if they do. Overpaying on D to get a true #1 dman is about the only place I would be ok with it. Maybe if it gets you Stamkos. But good but not exceptional wingers? Worst place to sink long term cap on this team. On a risk assessment basis only... I'd rather give Stamkos $11mil than Lucic $7mil on a 7 year deal. But I'd rather meter that out on D over the next three years too.

I am not even sure what your point is here. I would not be surprised if he was suspended half of his first season in Vancouver if he signed here. Hansen and Edler get suspended for nothing plays. What the hell would Lucic get for the stuff he does if he is playing here? I shudder at the thought. If Benning makes him a 7 mil long term cornerstone of this team we are not going anywhere. We need a much better top end of our D and some more dynamic scoring options far more than we need Lucic at 7 mil per long term.

When not scoring Lucic is engaged in puck battles and plays with an edge something we've lacked since Bertuzzi, Ohlund and Jovanovski days. Whether or not Lucic ends up here is up in the air and dependent on what Lombardi does in LA. But I wouldn't be complaining if he ended up here. P.S. Comparing Vrbata to Lucic is beyond stupid. Sorry to hear that you are ill. That's horrible. Those statements made were not done with the knowledge that you were sick, so trying to paint me as someone who lacks compassion for those suffering an illness is reaching at best and erroneous. Iis doesn't matter you still said them So what because I'm sick that lets you off the hook. saying I should go on hooked on phonics when besides the periods and slang that everyone uses and the lack of paragraphs which issince space bar currently working about as well as the period button Before a couple of days ago my last post was 11 months ago One of the first things I did was starting posting again I read some pretty god awful posts wrote a few myself. Sweathog
Well, he hasn't signed there yet, so there's still hope. We need someone with his toughness, especially in our division. Benning sees the value that Lucic brings, which is why he tried to aquire him in the offseason. Hopefully he signs here in the summer and we get a respectable team again, instead of a team where our stars get run without any fear.
LaBamba
I'll be the first guy to say that I hate Lucic, I really, really, hate him. But let's be completely honest with ourselves people. If that big prick was on our team, nobody! and I mean NOBODY would ever waive their fingers or punch a sedin face again. As much as I can't stand the guy, I guaranty you he would make a major impact. If Benning was horney over Prust sticking up for the young guys, I imagine he is in pure orgasmal bliss over Lucic. If he makes it to UFA, Benning will throw the bank at him. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he offered a 8x8 contract to him. As stupid as that sounds. All in all the best possible outcome is Lucic remaining a King for the remainder of his career and Benning finding a Lucic 2.0 in the draft.
