Im so happy we got Eriksson, he's arguably the most skilled forward in the market. The Ladd and Lucic deals are risky for hose teams. Loui will still be an effective player witu or without the Twins.

It's hilarious going back to the first few pages and reading all these praises for him. lol  Now we know who are not hockey experts anyhow haha.

Must be so embarrassing to read this stuff from the ones who said this in writing. lmao

I said right from the beginning he's not a 30 goal scorer, just look at his history, has been up and down. He just played his ass off last year knowing it was his FA year.

Worst part is Jim Benning actually believed in him, thats not good for our GM

Loui's d-zone coverage on the 3rd NYI goal is completely unacceptable.  You're making 36 million dollars and you haven't scored a goal yet and you are going to put in an effort like that?  Has he mailed it in already or what

But it would be acceptable if he was only making $650,000?

That specific play killed my drive to defend his lack of offensive output thus far. That was textbook lazy.

Well if he produces like he has been so far this year and gives up on plays like he did in NY last night we might as well just buy him out at the end of the year and pay someone else to actually do something.

Just because he has a NMC doesn't mean he would not accept a trade.

The Twins have not been very good in their own end too.  I just don't know what the other guys think, who are playing super hard, when they see that top line put out over and over and over again?  When I played there would be fights - in the room!

While I agree there, the bigger issue would be finding a team he would go to that would have the cap space to take on his contract. Most teams that are competitive enough for Louie to consider don't/won't have room for him.

Good point.  No team would take him and that contract, not now.

I'm hoping he can turn it around, it's hard to blame him when the team as whole has struggled so far. If he can pick it up and show signs of what he has done in the past we may be able to salvage this signing otherwise it's going to look like another GMJB fail.

Too bad the Sedins weren't identical triplets!

Then, this year, the Canucks would end up having a whole line that can only be deployed on offensive zone starts due to their quickly diminishing physical ability and their ever-present lack of physicality. Would have loved to see a great send-off for them where they could still have a solid line, and I think getting a creative, bug and skilled young guy like Puljujarvi would have allowed that, but that ship has sailed. The big question for me about their career now is what to do when their contract expires. They would want to keep playing, but will they end up being deployed in the second line? Maybe split them up to cut down on their deficiencies.

Good questions.  Guess we'll find out sooner or later.  For now, for better or worse, they're the best that Vancouver has.

Eriksson will turn it around eventually.  He'll have at least one good streak of producing points this season and will probably revert to the mean for his production from the last 3 or 4 seasons.  Confidence is shot right now.  He needs to focus on the little things that make goals happen and not worry about the result for a while.  You can see him visibly deflate when he misses a good chance right now, what you want is a renewed vigor every miss until you score.  Never give yourself a chance to feel defeated, just give it 100% and stay focused on what will get you to your goal (literally)

If the Canucks finally decide to do a full rebuild then Ericksson could easily become a nice chip to move come the TDL. I agree that he will likely kick it in. When he was with Dallas I thought his PK play made him a top asset. He hasn't shown a lot of this to date. Boston fans hated the guy when he arrived there but he eventually fitted in and they did want to resign him.
