We would have to put him on waivers after picking him up to send him to Utica, unless he clears then we trade for him, which I hope like hell we would not do. Players claimed on waivers cannot be sent to the minors without being offered back to the player's original team. Remember Etem? If the original team passes, the player must still clear the rest of the teams in the waiver process. TLDR: players claimed on waivers cannot be sent to Utica, must play in the NHL. He put up 30 pts a few seasons ago, was worth a 3rd at the deadline last year, and now is waiver bound. I'd venture to say there is some stuff going on behind the scenes. I believe Gelinas is actually bigger, but doesn't use that extra size to his advantage. I'd say Sbisa is (believe it or not) a bit better defensively, but Eric makes up for it with a far better shot. Can you ever see Sbisa getting 30 points in a season? Ever? And let's not forget the huge difference in salary. With all this said, I haven't seen his game since over the last few years, and I'm sure there must be a reason he was traded for just a third, was a healthy scratch for many games, and is now on waivers.
