RakuRaku
Great work by JB!! He's bringing in a skilled forward who's younger and faster and he knows the boy well from Boston! Wishing Gagner all the best! Hope he'll get to stick with the Oilers in his second stint.

And they're probably laughing at us for talking about playing Spooner with either Horvat or Pettersson.

Yea, I dunno about that one. If they don't have enough firepower as it is, he's not going to be a game changer. Gagner is serviceable to a team with a stacked top 9, that can hide him in their bottom 3 and not get hurt. We are not that team.
Rush17
Eriksson and Spooner have some experience together in Boston to boot.

I did see Gagme possibly becoming an Oiler out of empathic logic. Strome is not exactly the stereotypical, big character guy JB seems to like to take on in these cases. Keith looks like he’s 0-2 in trades right now. Maybe, and for his sake I hope that, he is just cleaning house and preparing for his bigger moves where the value will be there in the end. Can the Oliers get any worse at managing their future? Stop talking about Strome. It is Spooner!
Cluminati*
Finally, the deal that’ll set us up for the long playoff run! On a less sarcastic note, would be interesting to see if Spooner cherishes another lease on an NHL roster and shows some sign of life.
Duodenum
This is a great trade for the Canucks. 1) Trades Gagner, who was done as a Canuck 2) Removes Gagner from the Marlies 3) Provides depth for the Canucks and also an extra center/winger for Utica if needed 4) Salary and term is a wash 5) Has been a decent player up until this year, try and see if he might find some of his game from years prior. Canckelhead
Poor Jim couldn't even get a 7th for Gagme, had to settle for spooner haha
Fanuck
We get an asset who may stick with the club for one who was never coming back. Both get opportunities to re-set their careers. Let's see if Spooner takes advantage of this opportunity.

Difference is you put Spooner with either of them and I bet you he puts a couple in the net. Gagner won't be playing with McDavid he will be playing on a third line with wingers who can't put the puck in the net even if it's empty. Plus factor in his attitude about being demoted - you think he will enjoy losing in Deadmonton

BananaMash
At the worst, Spooner goes to Utica and provides some extra depth which we weren't getting out of Gagner due to the loan. At best, he finds some sort of NHL groove again, motivated by getting another chance. Its a win for us even if he doesn't do a thing at the NHL level. rekker
Ugh. Gagner is a plug. Spooner is a bigger plug. I find Spooner inept at everything. I remember the rumors we were trying to acquire him years ago and shuttered. Really doesnt matter other than I dont look forward to seeing Spooner in a Canuck jersey. Raymond Luxury Yacht
If nothing else, this gives me something to read about. I expect we will see Spooner at some point, but I don't expect him to be a difference maker in any way.
