kloubek
Wonder if it was Benning who didn't press for Schenn or Schenn not wanting to he here. Either way, I would have loved him here again as our 7th but it is what it is.
DownUndaCanuck
Only 700K, surely JB would have offered a bit more, must want to play with a contender.

oldnews
Tampa lost Stralman and probably Girardi...the cost of being so asset rich. Schenn might actually have a shot of beating Rutta for that 3RHD spot. Beyond Sergachev and Cernak, that might be a better opportunity imo than trying to leapfrog both Stecher and Biega.
Moe Knows
For 1 year at 700K !!!!....obviously we didn't actually want him...or he really didn't want to stay here...too bad..really liked him

Roger Neilsons Towel
Really disappointed we didn’t resign him. Especially at that dollar value. Really enjoyed what he brought to the team last year. Curious whether he wanted to play in Tampa or if it was Benning that didn’t see the value in resigning him. Wish him the best in TB.
420Fish
Competitive team, opportunity to play, and no income tax state. Good choice. 1
BlueDragon23
Kinda figured he would go elsewhere. Oh well. Hope he revitalizes his career in Tampa. Good luck Luke!
189lb enforcers?
Good luck, QH. This is still the team that doesn’t see its skinny rookies get power choke slammed, after all, minus Guddy, etc.

If not, expect more of the same Canuck's softness and rookies getting messed with.

The Canucks may have been willing to match or even exceed that cap hit - but could they offer him a realistic chance of being in the lineup opening night - knowing that they're signing a Myers, have Tanev, have Stecher - and even, realistically have Biega ahead of him on the depth chart. Schenn's minutes here with Hughes - were ine the context of no Tanev, no Gudbranson, with Biega playing 2nd pairing minutes.... And while Schenn stood up for team-mates, those minutes with Hughes -were at 84.4% ozone starts = understandable but not sustainable - and those aren't really Luke Schenn type minutes - he's more of a stay at home, dzone starts type defenseman - with some good attributes in that role, but I think Hughes needs a more mobile partner in the end. Will miss both Gubdranson and Schenn's pushback, but in the case of Schenn, they need to go with the better 200ft players imo (even Biega tends to be quite under-rated around here and not an easy, low cost depth D to displace/upgrade. 2 1
DarthMelvin
I was sad to see him Go. He was a force who would probably would have show cased more this year. The Lightening see something. and they got him cheap. I will be following his season this year.

Playing as #3 or #4 on the right D depth chart, on a contender, in sunny FLA and paying no income taxes or.... Sitting as #5 right D in beautiful but rainy, higher taxes and cost of living Vancouver who's certainly looking up but just coming out of a rebuild...?

alt kilgore
Maybe he really didn't want to be here, but its hard to believe that. He played well, fans loved him. He played the way we had hoped Gudbranson would have, at a fraction of the price. I hope JB offered him at least a million. And he STILL chose Tampa Bay @ $700,000. That would be the only excuse for the Canucks not to have him resigned. Does anyone honestly think Fantenberg as a depth D is worth $150,000 more than Schenn, and what he brings in size? Brother Jim give your head a shake.
