It's exploding there more than any other state in the US. Even more than New York or California. The odds someone coming through/from Washington have come in to contact with someone with the virus are higher than anywhere else in North America. Freely letting a higher risk population across our border, increases our risk and exposure. That said, I doubt many people are even traveling right now but still, that they're still freely able to is a bit boggling. Anecdotal, but I bumped into a group of Americans at Save On and at Safeway over the last few days. Don't know why they were here, but they were definitely American. They had the tell-tale give-a-ways like, "I don't know what that's like in Canada" (said in a Washington drawl), or, "we may be up here awhile" in stereotypical American clothes and the same accent. If you're going to be on lockdown, and at risk of getting sick, why not go somewhere that your money goes 40% further!?

Popular Post Curmudgeon
For four or five days I was growing more and more concerned about getting back into Canada. At 3:30 this morning we arrived at the airport in Mexico City to board an Air Canada flight to Vancouver. Nobody asked if we had a cough, or fever or sniffles. There was no signage about Covid-19 and no handouts like the ones we received arriving in a bus station in Xalapa, Veracruz. Two of the flight crew wore masks and no hot beverages were served, which is very odd for an early morning flight. Arrived at YVR just before 10:00 am. We were off the plane, through customs and out the door with our bags in less than fifteen minutes. There were people asking if anyone was feeling sick or had we been around anybody that was sick. What are you going to say? I don't know? Of course we said no because as far as we know, nobody appeared sick.. We were told we must self-quarantine for 14 days, which we are absolutely fine with. There were very, very few people in the airport. So, we are now home, and quite happy to stay here. One more thing: there is nothing that looks better than the final approach to YVR when you've been out of the country for several weeks. I love to travel, but I cherish coming home. 11

Popular Post Jaimito
Ont, AB, BC all declared emergency. It is the right thing to do. Too many are still not taking it seriously. People watch zombie virus movies and think if they don't see dying people on the streets or riots, it is ok. Spoke to former colleagues at VGH, and they say they are not ready for the surge. So do your part and stay home. Don't overwhelm the system. 1 10

nux4lyfe
They shut everything else down except for Sky train's and bus's, Which more people use for to get around , Isn't that a high priority? More germs are on public transit then restaurants and pubs..at least the waitresses come around after your seating and wipe it down. How about shut everything down for 2 weeks and let's solve this sh!t. Edited March 17, 2020 by nux4lyfe 1
