Officials have not yet decided is schools will resume as scheduled on May 5. -- Also: More than 1,000 flights were cancelled on Thursday after 20 employees of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport tested positive for COVID-19. @Warhippy more China covid porn for ya. Ohhh ya baby, I can't get enough Mmmm Legit though, China is also now showing the first cases of the spread of bird flu. Whatever numbers they claim; times it by 500 because they're lying. Major ports, factories etc all shutting down or shuttering. Shipping being affected again. Fuel prices through the bloody roof and quarterly reports now starting to show those record profits for oil and gas companies. Ya man; bring on that inflation. I'll make more on my nest egg than I will the markets if they keep jacking rates to fight inflation.

Warhippy
China is continuing ot shut down. Expect more shortages. Time to start making things at home again https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/china-lockdowns-manufacturing-1.6436978 China's manufacturing activity fell to a six-month low in April as lockdowns continued in Shanghai and other manufacturing hubs in an attempt to stem COVID-19 outbreaks, according to a survey released on Saturday. The monthly purchasing managers' index, released by China's National Bureau of Statistics, fell to 47.4 in April, down from 49.5 in March on a 100-point scale. Numbers below 50 show activity contracting. The domestic COVID-19 outbreaks have impacted China's factory activities and market demand, said the bureau's statistician, Zhao Qinghe. Some enterprises have reduced or stopped production, with disruptions in logistics as well as the supply of raw materials and components. Shanghai, China's most populous city, spent weeks in April under lockdown. The capital, Beijing, began mass testing millions of residents this week — and officials on Saturday ordered that restaurants in that city close dine-in services over the next few days, due to the risk of COVID-19 transmission during a holiday period. 1

Do a rapid test, but I'd advise doing a cheek/throat swab alongside a nasal swab. At this point though, not really any point. I'm just grateful that my dad, while he also got it, is having an easier go of it than I am. No longer being terrified of infecting him asymptomatically is a light at the end of the tunnel. 1 2 2

nuckin_futz
China continues to struggle with covid cases 58 cases reported in 'low risk' zones in Shanghai Earlier today, China reported 7333 new covid cases, falling by 6.8% in the past 24 hours. That's a good sign but there was also a big setback in Shanghai. The city reported zero cases outside of quarantine facilities in the previous two days, inspiring some hope of sustainably eased lockdowns. But today it reported 58 cases in areas called "precautionary zones" where there hadn't been cases in 14 days. That led to new restrictions in those areas. In Beijing, 36 new cases were detected, bringin the number to 400 in the latest wave. Aside from Chinese domestic demand, the market is concerned about fresh supply bottlenecks out of China. Two comments in today's ISM manufacturing report highlighted longer lead times at US factories directly due to Shanghai shutdowns. Drugstores have kits available.....you just have to ask. They distribute them in boxes of 5. I'd suggest doing an oral/nasal swab combo (gross). You swab the inside of your cheeks (without touching your teeth), then tongue and back of throat. Same swab to do each nostril for 5 seconds. I got nothing but negative tests until I did it this way - much more reliable.
