BCNate Posted March 22, 2021 Share Posted March 22, 2021 I know people want to be quick to bash waiver pickups, but especially when most of the league is up against the cap and trying to make some space, we can get some good bargains. We are down 2 forwards in EP an Pearson for at least another 10 days, and don't really have anyone to call on (yes, both Vesey and Boyd are better than Bailey). Popular Post oldnews Posted March 22, 2021 Popular Post Share Posted March 22, 2021 If Boyd plays any minutes at center - it's likely just to keep Gaudette out of that role while Beagle is not healthy. I read this as an indication that Beagle isn't likely to return soon (and he did not make the last road trip - was put on IR on Friday). Boyd isn't really / hasn't really been a center much at the NHL level - not ideal by any stretch - but at least more experienced than Gaudette. If people are reading this as a precursor to dumping a veteran center - I think that's a bad/wishful take for those of you that don't like Sutter and/or Beagle. I'd read this more as a potential short term improvement over Gaudette - while the team still intends to make as much a go of making the playoffs as they possibly can....as opposed to a premature assumption that they'll now be dumping assets. 5 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

We want to be a top heavy team with questionable depth, poor goaltending, who's best players disapear in crunch time? As tough as this year has been, we are set up far better than the Leafs going forward.
