Spezza said he would retire if he was claimed. For that reason and just to put the screw to the leafs I’d pick him up hahaha

exactly.

they are in our division.

no exceptions made.  no favours.

this is a professional, competitive league.

someone should have claimed him.  spare the soft soap.

regular seasons matter more than the playoffs, evidently.

They haven't made it past the first round in the Spamaplan era.

The Canucks on the other hand, knocked off the defending Stanley Cup Champions.

Comical to see so much leafblowing when that fundamental fact remains...

But they were first month Stanley Cup Champions to be!  Again!

Wake me up once they've won a round.

I think they were crowned offseason champs as well weren't they?

"Would try to have you believe" =/= a verbatim, word-for-word comment

Hope this helps.

Do you do alot of speaking as to what people  believe, with out having any proof of what people believe?

Funny how in the space of a week, the Canucks acquired two bottom-six players signed for no term and very cheap.

Certain users on this board would try to have you believe that Benning had no choice but to sign Beagle, Sutter, Roussel, et al., for the prices and terms they did.

Makes you wonder...

Yep it hurts you deep down you should just run upstairs and tell mom and dad instead of wasting our time ::D

Not a Leaf fan but I don't need to take cheap shots at an organization that we should strive to be like.

Strive to be like? How so? They've done little to nothing I've agreed with for 6 years running now.

8 points in 20 games is reasonably solid. His production over the last few years suggests he's about a 30-point guy over 82 games. A worthy bottom six forward most likely as long as his defense is reasonable.

24% in the dot. This is not the center you are looking for.

Gaudette has improved in the faceoff circle - but not quite as much in the rest of the defensive center aspects of the game imo.

Boyd is 38.5% career = not good either....but close to Gaudette's career  mark.

Boyd is also 3 years older than Gaudette - perhaps that experience will come in handy.

In any event, it looks like Utica also may be down a few forwards as well (while the Canucks are down a handful) - so, they need bodies - and Boyd has some upside.

Yeah, even Virtanen is a better option. Small sample though. Some people are just not good at faceoffs, while others are.
