Petan will not be our second line center.

Theres a reason why Miller played center all preseason. They want to be deep down the middle.

If they want Miller back on the top line then they should claim Turris off waivers or sign Anisimov.

Miller Pettersson Boeser

Garland Horvat Hoglander

Pearson Turris/Anisimov Podkolzin

Motte Dickinson Chiasson

We essentially have 2 2nd lines with that setup which is sick! Still not super confident about this season though.

Me neither, I think we need to make a trade. We have extra RW's and need better defense. Maybe something like

Myers & Boeser to St. Louis for Faulk and Kostin

Miller Pettersson Hoglander

Pearson Horvat Garland

Kostin Petan Podkolzin

Motte Dickenson Chiason

OEL Faulk

Hughes Poolman

Rathbone Schenn

Hunt Bowey

Petan probably isn't going to hold up as 2nd line center. The only way he stays on the roster is if he is a winger to Miller.

Hog-EP-Boeser

Pearson-Horvat-Garland/Podz

Petan-Miller-Podz/Garland

Di Giuseppe-Dowling-Highmore

MacEwen/Chiasson

I'd be fine with 3 strong lines playing 50+ minutes and a 4th line for energy + PKers.

Miller-EP-Boeser ~18 minutes

Hoglander-Horvat-Garland ~18 minutes

Pearson-Dickinson-Podkolzin 15-18 minutes

Di Giuseppe-Dowling-Highmore <= 10 minutes

MacEwen/Chiasson

Di Giuseppe was waived earlier today.

That 'second' line would get annihilated in at least 2 of the 3 zones.

If we were to retain the current roster and IF Garland was willing to try LW (he’s a right hand shot), I’d be interested to see how these lines performed together:

Garland Pettersson Boeser

Hoglander Miller Podkolzin

Pearson Horvat Motte

Petan/Sutter Dickenson Chiasson

Personally, I wouldn’t be opposed to us trading a decent draft pick for another C/LW or RHD. Don’t think Sutter will hold up and don’t trust Petan enough in that 4th line role. Could swap with Motte but I like Motte’s hustle and grind and think that could benefit Bo and Pearson.

Smallish forward corps but balanced out lines with energy and some grit on each.
Thoughts?

Yeah, I can’t disagree - they’ll be hard pressed to be average but hopefully that’s all they need to be.  Forwards and goalie need to carry the weight and the big money guys need to earn their contracts on the back end.

Good news is I’ve thought OEL and Poolman look good so far.

I can see management pushing for another trade early on to shore it up - maybe once Hamonic’s cap hit and LTIR stuff settles - but it won’t be easy.

I think that it would be a mistake for Benning to try and force the issue.  He should wait for an opportunity because if he forces it, he will surely over pay.

I think that their D may be their weakness but it is not as bad as fans are predicting

I really don't want them to pick up Chaisson.  He is good at the net front PP spot but not at much else imo..

Di Guiseppe has been sent down

Dowling, I think will stick as the 5C, he can play on the pk

Podz is 3rd line at best at this point but that will change, and

Big Mac has slid, slud, is sliding down the depth chart.  Like the guy but as the team gets better, he gets left behind.

Agree with all the points made.

And, once Sutter and Motte come back, the lineup should look much more complete.

We can even do Motte-Dickinson-Sutter for defensive matchups when EP-Horvat-Miller line up as centers.

We have enough quality wingers to spread out the scoring once Motte and Sutter are back.

I'd rather have Petan than Garland.  Garland hasn't shown much.

Hey Canucks fans.

For those that have been super angry the last few days.

I thought of something that might cheer you up.

We really liked Lockwood Gadj, Juolevi but were mad they didn't make the team.

Now that what's done is done, I'm trying to change my frame of mind and cheer on this team.

Green and JB are experts in their  profession at the very top league.

Surely they know more than a mere couch potato like me.

If I liked Lockwood Gadj and Juolevi and thought they were good players, how good are the guys that the experts who do this for a living went with?

Surely they've gotta be better than my choices right?

Lol food for thought.

Can't wait for game 1.
