If he's checked out on the team he's captain of with a year left on his deal because management doesn't want to give him the contract he's asking for then they're absolutely doing the right thing by not giving it to him.

Can you blame him though? If I were managing a team, my first priority would be trying to retain my captain. Instead the first move they did was overpay for a PK specialist.

it's pretty much human nature.. how often do you see a worker work extra hard at their job knowing they are going to get rid of them soon whether it'd be managers or whatever. prolly would have been better if they didn't start by offering him a pay cut even if they have no intention to sign him.. i mean you offer mikheyev 4.75 and you start bo's offer in the low 5s less than what he's already making? i think that's insulting. 32 points pk specialist gets u 4.75x4 consistent 50-60 point guy with around 30-35 goals will get u 5.2 as a starting point? so what was mikheyev starting offer from the canucks? 2mil?

Mikjeyev average in goals was the same as Bo's if he played every game so at under 5 mill that's a steal and should not be insulting to Bo's agent as he is the one dealing with it.At this point I love Bo on this team but having two older centers in 5 years will be awful for this team.To me I would shop both Miller and Bo to see which one gets you the best offer and if is good take it.To me I would add to get a 3c and rhd like add BB and Rathbone ot something like that.

He has 15 total goals combined in his previous 2 season.. let’s not act like he earned his contract.. that’s like a elc player gets 21 goals in his 3rd season and all of a sudden he earned a 5mil + contract for 1 partial season? I don’t care what he’s on pace for. Just like everyone here will say well boeser is not a 30 goal scorer doesn’t matter what he’s on pace for. He’s injury prone and every fan analyst outside of Vancouver will agreed he’s overpaid.

ya let’s add bb and rathbone. There’s 31 teams in this league that can take on 12mil+ worth of contract and cap space lmao. A 3c and a rhd at best will eat up maybe 6 mil so what magical team out there have 6mil+ worth of cap space and a 3c and rhd to give? Stop living in fantasy world. Boeser at this point have negative value. Everyone in Vancouver trashes bashes insults him every day. What makes you think another team will value our “trash” at almost 7mil and 3 years if he’s as bad as you guys say he is?

Yes.

He hasnt shown nearly enough to be worth the money he wants, AND they had to "overpay for a PK specialist" in part b/c he's not good on the PK, despite his camp trying to compare him to a Selke winner like Couturier.

Good on the PK doesn’t mean Selke level lets chill with the hyperbole.

I have yet to see many people say anything beyond he’s good defensively which is fact.

I didn't say anything hyperbolic.

I said he's been compared to Selke level guys in the context of contract negotiations (Couturier) and that he's isn't that kind of player, or worth that kind of money.

Poster mentioned us having to 'overpay for a PK specialist' (Mikheyev) to which I replied if Horvat was an outstanding PKer/defensive FWD maybe we wouldn't have had too. (Tho I also disagree on his assesment of Mikheyev)

And I don't think Bo's been that good defensively so far.

30 goals centermen, who plays hard minutes, and is strictly used in defensive situations, isn’t worth 6m+?

Miller is just as bad as Horvat on the PK, if not worse, and yet he got the money he deserved.

I think he is a bit over paid, but the term is way too long.

Buckle up folks, the next few years are likely to be bad, bad years.  7 more years of Miller, at $8 per-ouch.

If you think Bo is the right captain for this team you are delusional. Must be a super tight group when your captain is not invited to the starting goalies wedding. Time to move on.

No Petey either though?

He isn't bad he just hasn't yet lived up to his potential at all.Plus yes there are teams out there that have rhd that make millions and 3 c that make millions that could work and if so maybe they trade someone else to make it work. Not fantasy but could be something that could work. That was an example maybe three teams involved.I am just saying that we have the players to make trades to fix areas we need.Mayne two trades whatever it takes.
