Vinny Arsenault down on the farm would do it in a heart beat. He can skate pretty well and hold his own defensively. I honestly think he could handle MacEwans spot and play 5-7 mins a night. But maybe i'm just blind by my love for this guys toughness. There isn't an AHL team out there that doesn't know who this guy is.

Since making the playoffs in 2015, we were in the bottom 5 in the standings for how many years? We just didn't win the lottery in 2016 and 2017, 2018 were the years when we didn't need to win the lottery to pick a top 3 players. 

 

We suck now because the roster lost balance and PK. Two veteran defencemen that handled the heavy minutes are gone. Workhorse goalie (Marky) is gone. A goal scorer like Toffoli is gone. We didn't replace veteran guys that handled tough minutes like the PK, defensive assignments like locking things down in the third. And we have zero size and very little physicality.

This team never tanked it just sucked ! Plus we have watched a lot of assets leave for nothing. This management has no vision what so ever.

 

What is meant by tanking is to understand that your team is not close to being a contender so you make decisions to take current older assets and turn them into younger future assets. The goal is also to increase the volume of assets in your system. Boeser , Horvat and Miller could each bring in two or 3 future assets each.

 

Marky and Tanev should have put assets back into our system not let walk away. This club has never even been close to being a contender since Benning took over. We should never have been buying rentals and this organization certainly couldn't afford to see players walk away with no return to us.

We had 2.  Gadjovich & Big Macewan. One of which is & taken on some of the toughest guys in the NHL & only improving. Also is able to make a team that is better than ours...???

With those 2 & Schenn we were very capable & willing to handle most or any situation. 

Now we are looking for a new Macewan when we spent 5 years developing him.........

that's because during the gillis era the media were actually trained professionals who went to school for journalism, not just hockey fans with the ability to sign up to create a free blog and inflated senses of self worth.

Like you have said, it has nothing to do with being critical of the team's poor season or calling out a bad play; it's the personal stuff and outright lies I object to.

this fan base doesn't need the media to stoke them into toxicity, a large portion of us get there on our own.  Imo, it's actually the toxic fan base that fuels the toxic media, not the other way around.........the media is just a reflection of what many of the fans already spew
