hockeyville88
Hallelujah. This is a big day and clearly the right move. Let's hope ownership take their time to make the next right moves 2

Announce a blockbuster trade or two to bring us a tough guy, a power forward that can score and a big, reliable LHD!! We won't know how bad the defense is until we see how they play without Baumgartner handicapping the team with his idiotic system. They've been set up to fail playing under this clown and it's entirely possible that we see significant improvement. 1 1
Popular Post Jack Fig
Jim did some good drafting, but even there his record is somewhat overrated. His FA spending was pretty atrocious. Trades .... eh ... average at best. But actual on-ice results are the currency you can't argue with. This has become a dysfunctional team and there's a lot reasons why and lots of people to point fingers at. Jim rolled some serious dice on OEL this summer and I appreciated that. But even though OEL (and Garland) has been okay, the resulting mess of this season is hard to accept or overlook. As others have pointed out, Jim seems to have difficulty in building a cohesive roster. It's really just a collection of mostly unconnected parts. He had time, he did some good things, but the direction of the team in the here and now justifies his firing. Tough business this. I’ll take my chances. I lived in Edmonton for 7 years. You don't have a clue what a "worst GM ever" even is. Benning was mediocre. 3 5

A group of 4 top 6 D with 2 Top 4 D shouldn't have the worst PK in the history of the game through 25 games. Especially when that same D core with like 3 AHLers last season at least didn't embarass themselves.

All I know is that I met him in the press box at a game and shook his hand. I'm an above average sized dude but his hand was like a bear paw and his handshake was so firm it almost broke my arm off. Just based on that interaction, I'm comfortable with this move.

PhillipBlunt
Just saw this idiot Grady Sas on Twitter complaining about the Fire Benning chants leading to his firing, yet this useless zygote complained about Benning ad nauseam for years. What an absolute clown.

appleboy
With an interim GM I doubt they will be making any trades.

I’ll take my chances. Boeser, Pettersson, Demko, Hoglander, Hughes, Podkolzin, Miller, Garland (and some less significant but still useful pieces) have all been added in the last 4 1/2 years; that is a considerable amount of talent provided they play up to potential. There is still work to do but to suggest that acknowledging this is some kind of across-the-board approval of every move JB did is just dumb. You have to take both sides of the ledger into consideration when accounting. I'm sure this post will get a very intelligent response . 1 4
