[Rumour] Canucks interested in Andrei Kuzmenko

You forgot Podzilla who will be a beast and a top 6 forward next year.  If Miller is moved I'm hoping he goes to Vegas in a deal that includes Nicolas Roy who can step in immediately to be our 3C.  And yes if Kuzmenko is signed I don't see any room for Höglander.

Kuzmenko   Pettersson   Podkolzin

                    Horvat          Boeser

Pearson       Roy             Garland

That's a really good top 9, we just need another left winger.  Or we can play Podkolzin on the left size and separate the Russians and get a UFA like Kessel to play RW.

Dickinson can play on the 4th line if he sticks around and can move into the top 9 with injuries.  I'd rather we trade him though and get a true 4th liner like Deslauriers who can bring some needed truculence to the lineup.

Vegas cant afford miller.  Look at their cap situation.

But yes, roy would be awesome here. Exactly what we need.  Top 6 skill and speed but would instantly make us 3 lines deep.

Who else would you want back from Vegas?

Not a bad top 9, assuming that Kuzmenko can produce at a good rate and Pettersson takes the right step forward.

If they move Pacioretty they could, him and Miller both have a year left on their current deal

Odds are they wouldn't have to pay much to move him given his track record and the term remaining on his deal

Patches will be 35 when his deal expires so it's not as if he'll be in their longer term plans anyway

They could even retain 1.5M to move him and it'd still fit capwise

Edit: Ahhhh, yeah, I see what you mean

But if they move Patches out and find a way to dump Dadonov somewhere he'd be willing to go they could

Landing Kuzmenko would be huge, but I'm not expecting a sure-fire impact player by any means.

Many in this market remember Fabian Brunnstrom, there's also Nikita Gusev (who did have 1 rly good year), Roman Cervenka was given a nice deal by the Flames & never worked, Vadim Shipyachov is another one that only played 3 games, exc.

We'll see but I'm thinking best case a good top 9 FWD that contributes offense in a secondary role, certainly not a replacement for Boeser, Garland, or Miller.

Top 9 fwd is the possible case.  Worst case is he doesn't work out at all.  Best case is another Panarin (highly, highly unlikely).

Really how he plays doesn’t matter.  He’s free and we want him to choose us.  Tell him whatever he wants to hear so he comes here.  Then give him every opportunity to succeed.  If he does, we win.  If he fails, then it’s no loss.

Still, just see a guy who is playing his next year to showcase for his next contract choosing to play with McDavid and Draisatl.

Feeling some doubt about Kuzmenko.  It's a Canuck thing.  Vancouver isn't very lucky when it comes to star players choosing here to play. Looking at other teams he may go to, like CAR and EDM, they're both way ahead of the Canucks in the cycle and playoff contenders. Canucks can't even get into the postseason.  I sure hope JR and Boudreau had a great effect on him, but I have some doubt he picks VAN.

I get what you are saying but imagine the payday he could get if he helped push a team like us to the playoffs. He would have a bigger role here which means more future money

Trade Miller sign Malkin

Kuzmenko Malkin Podkolzin let's go.

Love Malkin, but he's injured far too much.

That line would be fun to watch.

I think he would get a lot of ice time, on the PP for sure. He'd get every opportunity in VAN, but I'm concerned he may go after a Cup right away. Is he a good character guy or is he entitled and greedy?

What are the odds they talked about Pavel Bure in that interview :bigblush:

Maybe CAR but Edmonton is going to be in decline after this season. This year is their chance.

Next year, they have to give Kane and Pujularvi big raises while trying to sort out their goaltending problems with 0 cap space.

If he goes to CAR, there's no room in the top-6 for him. There's room here to play as high as the first line.

Garland-Miller-Kuzmenko
Podz-Petey-Boeser
Pearson-Horvat-Karlsson
Hoglander-Lamikko-Highmore

I could see it playing out this way, and it's a lot better than what we iced this year.

Is Kuz really a guy we need? We don't have enough sand in our like up why are we shopping for a Goldobin.

Kuzmenko isn’t anything like Goldobin.  Plus, he’s free.  So he f he doesn’t work out big deal.  But if he does work out, that’s a huge deal.

If theres any chance to get malkin, we need to take it.

I asked this yesterday during the pens/rags game.

Malkin looks like he's lost it.  Totally checked out and disinterested.  Ya he's still a PPG player but he looked as checked out as Kovalev used to and that's a no from me dog

I mean sure but also I wanna make the playoffs not spend half the season figuring out if this guy is a NHL player.

Why do you say he's nothing like Goldobin. Seems like a soft PP specialist to me. What do you see that has you so hyped. We need to be filling out our line up with guys like Nic Roy, Val Nishuchkin
