More importantly, does he show up "at the drop of the first puck"?  :bigblush:

What are you looking for from Dermott...he doesn't fight...he can't put up points and only a plus 3 playing for a high scoring leaf team!! Don't expect too much from this dude!!

I love the fact that all these trades are happening today so that the TSN and Sportsnet panels can once again provide another awkward and cringe 3 hour TRADE DEADLINE SPECIAL while talking about random and irrelevant crap to desperately make up the time.

Exactly. That's what we're here for.

I would have preferred we kept the 3rd round pick than spend it on Dermott. But he's not a defensive liability.

Hamonic, last 2 seasons:

ES GA/60 = 2.2 + 2.3

SH GA/60 = 12.8 + 11.1

Dermott, last 2 seasons:

ES GA/60 = 2.1 + 2.4

SH GA/60 = 2.7 + 3.2

He's a better defender than Hamonic.

Eye test clearly shows otherwise.  Hamonic has proven himself to be capable of playing in the NHL.  Dermott has not.

Stop with the logic. He played for the leafs, therefore he is a liability in his own end.

In theory he should help our PK quite a bit.

Hey if Gudbranson can go to a new team, play in a system that suits his strengths, and end up looking like a d man that can make a difference anything is possible.

At the very worst Dermott is a lateral for Hamonic....and they save the cap space to boot.

I don’t think it is terrible, but honestly would have rather saved the 3rd rounder as currency to shed Poolman or Dickenson and signed a guy like Hagg in the summer for that cap space who brings a different element to the table than what we have.

The people saying it is saving $1.5 million are using some spin.  It wasn’t one move for Hamonic and Dermott.  We had saved $3 million already, so no reason to do the 2nd half of that.
