Jester13
This'll sure make a ton of people very angry, but it's such a difficult thing to prove years later. Regardless of how many of these cases turn out, hopefully these last handful of years is helping women feel more empowered to say no and leave the situation rather than going through with acts they don't want to and then regretting it later and for the rest of their lives. 1

Popular Post rekker
Lessons to be learnt here. Innocent till proven guilty. If assaulted, as painfull and emotionally challenging as it may be, reporting it immediately is important. 9
Slegr
Well, hopefully he grows up from all of this and doesn’t put himself in situations where he goes to court over this type of thing in the future.

MeanSeanBean
I wonder if we went back on the Jake thread how many people taking victory laps now, saying he's a great 3rd liner and will resurrect has career, were bashing him for his play before he was accused of sexual assult...

I would say (sadly) that the biggest lesson so far from this off-season of sexual assault stories is: if you want to cut down on the probability of being sexually assaulted by hockey players, stay far away from them.

Popular Post Aladeen
Not Guilty does not equal Innocent. But if he is innocent than I am glad this was the decision. Personally I would rather see a guilty person walk free than an innocent person wrongly convicted. 2 16 2

Posters used to post around here all the time that knew him or his friends saying he was not a good person. I know that because I used to defend him and remember not taking it seriously when they did.

It was still the right decision to cut this perennially immature player lose from his connections to the organization. His professionalism was non-existent. It seemed Jake couldn’t grow up quickly enough to demonstrate the personal habits & qualities required to earn the respect of his ‘mates & Canucks Nation. Even within this trial, there was enough evidence of his more indulgent & selfish behaviours to conclude that Jake may not be able to make the kinds of personal sacrifices necessary to become a successfully elite pro-hockey player. We saw things, know things or have directly heard enough statements coming from the player’s own mouth, to deduce that no one can easily fix all the misfirings going on between this player’s ears.
