He doesn't need to be a PPG player to be worth his 4.125m contract.  If he hits 40 points, that's about on par for a player making that kinda money.

Yes another 10 pts would suggest he’s earned his salary.

Beau wasn’t a cap dump but a necessary cap add on to make the Bo trade work.

Cap add on, yes.  Cap dump, no.  They're quite different.

I think the pertinent question here is how many of them were traded to teams with zero chance of making the playoffs?

Including Hronek 2 but Ottawa is in a better position than us from a prospect and team building perspective.

The Canucks have traded three first round draft picks in the last four years.  At the bottom of the standings, again. Selling picks for immediate help. And the one first rounder they did use is a 5’11 170 pound winger who last year had 9 points in 26 games, and this year has 9 points in 29 games in Sweden. Absolutely. Absurd.

Our owner went out and hired a guy who's only success came from a team that already had 4Hof players on it when he got there.

Idk who in their right mind thought this would work out.

To be fair…

Beau was at 49gp with 20pts as a NYI.  Hardly on fire.  It wasn’t until he was with EP40 that he caught lightning in a bottle going 11gp with 11 points.

Do you really think Beau will maintain his PPG pace and become a PPG player?

If people watched hockey around the league, they would know not to judge anybody offensively on the Islanders because they collectively sacrifice offense for defense.

Beauvillier playing better offensively on a team with more offensive prowess isn’t shocking. He’s been shackled by the Islanders his entire career

You’re awfully critical of an 18 yo (yeah he’s 18 yo), who just battled mono for a year. Know who else was called a bust after battles with mono? DeAngelo and Liljegren recently, who both are starting to show their potential and that they definitely aren’t busts.

Maybe go out for some fresh air, instead of lamenting a team based off of a kids performance while having mono at 17 and 18.

You know who else isn't a winger?

Deangelo and Liljegren.

And it was well publicized that LouLam had been trying to dump his contract for a little Ng time.  That's the definition of a cap dump

Call it a cap dump. But not all cap dumps are equal. A young first round player who has put decent points on a defensive team, showed scoring touch in junior, plays with pace, has only a year remaining on his contract. I will take that as a "cap dump" any and every day.

Just because it's a deep draft doesn't mean you're drafting a guaranteed all star.  You may get a solid player but it's still a crap shoot especially after the top 10.  Even in the best draft classes of all time, the odds aren't great.  So still a decent trade.

No.  But people thought he was a cap dump and they've been proven wrong.  Another solid player brought in by the FO.

I agree with your post.. Also the player they pick this summer with NYI pick would take how many years before player can play in the NHL??

Petey is 24 and if you draft a player this year good chance it will be at least 3-- 5 years before there NHL ready?

I think Vancouver will make another big trade by Friday...

Agreed, don't think they're done yet.
