Buyout OEL and trade Myers after his bonus. That clears 13 mil for next year. Livingston will sign here so he can play with Hughes. That’s an opportunity no other team can come close to offering. Plus he can live here and not in a US *** **** of a city.

Um ok that's not terribad (but it gives us a buyout cap issue for years) and assume you know the guy and he's good and then it's Hughes then Hronic then Bear the Livingston the rookie ten the 27 year old career AHLer then well it's not even worth mentioning.

He also might want to play on a good team, so maybe he doesn't want to play here. Who knows for sure? Sure, harvest free dudes if you can, but they are probably free and undrafted for a reason. Sure you can harvest some gems, but that's not a sustainable pipeline, nor a for sure retool.

Ya, they also lost yesterday. Who is going to replace the AHLers on defense, especially with one or two of OEL and Myers generally agread to ideally not be around? What happens if one of them goes down? Sure, we picked up one NHL quality defender, who is currently hurt. Put where's the depth and the pipleline. The quality goes down fast from Hughes, Hroenic, and Bear. Everyone else is an AHLer or a liability. How are we going to get three more "retools" with no cap space?

One bite at a time...

Sure. Those are good points. But our owner won’t rebuild through the draft.

Sure but it's sure as hell not happening by the start of next season. Which is why we need all our draft picks, and more, so we can start developing a system.

Or we can call up Stevey Y and grab another dman. I am sure he would love to have both the firsts we had.

Yep.

Let’s not forget we fluked into the Pettersson and Hughes picks. We were actually trying to go for it those seasons.

If our 2023 1st is not in the top 3, I would totally consider trading it for Moritz Seider...

I just assume that we will never win the draft lottery, so we will be two positions worse from wherever we end up. Of course, if we trade the pick that team will have a much better chance.

People talk about Canucks over payment for Hronek.

How about the Oilers over payment for Ekholm., is worse.

Tyson Barrie, their first pick last year Reid Schaefer, 2023 first round pick, and a 2024 fourth pick.

.

Edmonton are all in with McDavid and Draisaitl.  Ekholm is a real solid add for them - he's also going to be a great mentor for their young Ds.

Ice time on a team on the potential upswing may be attractive.

Nothing’s a for-sure. Not even a middling 1st round Islanders pick this year or an up in the air pick next year.

(Likely a pick next year than 2023).

Drance did his predictable rant on Donny and Dhalli. One thing that I thought was ridiculous was that he said the team isn't better. And he thought this was obvious.

He is saying that the team is worse with  Bouvillier and Hronek than it would be with just Horvat. How could he be so sure of this ? Bouvillier so far has been fine. And if Hronek is anything close to what he was in Detroit, I just don't see how the team isn't better.

Agreed, Horvat's time in Van had expired and the team needed to balance out the lineup. A scoring winger and a top two RHD do that.

It will be interesting to see how this team performs next year. Mgmt appears to have targeted specific players so hopefully their scouting of NHL players is better than JB's team. Need some playoffs.
