(And maybe you’re right.) I just can’t shake the memories of some of the brain dead plays that he made last year. His injury doesn’t explain why he seemed to spontaneously forget how to play hockey at times. The injury does explain it. Have you tried playing hockey at the highest level while injured? He shouldnt have played at all last year but the guy soldiered on as best as he could.

c00kies
I think this would have been his comeback year since he wasn't coming off an injury and had the full summer to train! I think this will be great value

He was no longer attached to any team and was free to discuss with every other team that same day. Not the same situation as someone like Burroughs who was an upcoming UFA. Vancouver still held his rights till 30 June and were still trying to sign him. He is not allowed to talk to any other team unless he gets permission from Vancouver. Some teams give permission earlier - likely the case with Talbot because Dorion had already announced back in April that he wasn't going to bring him back. Fair enough. Interesting. So, the others are all being cockblocked by the teams they played last season for.
Guest
OEL gonna have a great year in Florida. Great signing for Florida.

Oregon.Duck
OEL is bad at $8M at $2.25M though, he’s not a bad option for a bottom pair defenseman.
MaxVerstappen33
2.25 was a winners discount apparently. I bet some GM was willing to go 3 million + more years
Provost
OEL as a PP specialist who isn’t relied on to be a minute munching shut down D is a much better player. He will be fine there playing 15 minutes a night in an offensive role.

Just cuz he wasn't worth 7m+ playing top shut down minutes, doesn't mean he won't be super effective as a bottom tier guy making 2.25m Well of course! Everyone here would have been happy with OEL at 2.25m. You're statement makes no sense. It wont surprise anyone one bit if he is a super effective player getting 2.25m, because that's what he is and should be. Folks can hate him at 7m and love him at 2.25m because those are two complete different paychecks. Lol. Doesn't prove "the haters" wrong in any way 1
nuckin_futz
At only 31 years old he can only get a 1 year deal? Reaves just got 3 years at 36 years old. Maybe he just wants to show he's not the donkey he was in Vancouver and cash in next year?

Umm, they are paying him less to play than we are paying him not to play... 2.25m to play in the east is a good signing.

ronthecivil
As someone who had season tickets where I would see OEL all the time with when on defense on my side I can tell you that OEL has negative value. He doesn't stop anyone. Pucks go right through him. He doesn't win puck battles. Hell, I don't think he engages in them. He has negative value as a defenseman. Sucks to be you Tampa. Well, for this one lol.

NucksIn50
Will be waiting for everyone to complain how OEL has a bounce back season in Florida. I don’t care if he wins the Norris or Rocket Richard heck I don’t even care if he skates like Peggy Fleming, we needed to move on from that contract. Wish him the best nothing against OEL. go Canucks go!
