elvis15
Wondered if this was coming after activating him from LTI. Let's see a return if anything worthwhile.

Nucker 67
Okay, so Pearson and a 3rd for DeSmith. No money retained. Like the goalie duo: Demko/DeSmith I guess Silovs stays in Abby? Edited September 19, 2023 by Nucker
kloubek
Actually, I like the trade. It helps our cap situation, mainly. It also moves a winger, of which we have (had?) too many, and gives us an NHL-experienced backup. His numbers in Pittsburg were actually quite decent. 3
billabong
Desmith has .914 career save % he isn’t some chump there’s value here Canucks couldn’t run it back with Martin and expect him play 25 games 2 1

HKSR
I'll post here for now cuz my IT department has blocked forumcanucks.com (due to it being a newly registered domain )... Good move by Allvin. Unloaded the Pearson contract and brought in a viable backup for the cost of a 3rd round pick. I'll take it. Would have been better to see Myers moved instead though. 1

Still hoping there's a deal to trade Myers+ to CAR for Pesce. If that happens, and even though it's really early, I would put the Canucks in the Contenders category. CanuckFan1123
Honestly, I’m a Pearson fan but this is about the best case scenario for a cap dump. We’ve upgraded backup goalie, moved out enough to be cap compliant, and moved out one of the 763 active wingers on our roster. Not bad. 1

If you were Carolina, a team trying to win the cup, why would you take a trade of Myers for Pesce even with a 1st round pick? Carolina wants to win now. I can see Pesce going at the trade deadline for a haul, with lots of teams vying for him. But we don't have anything to offer them to make them better for the playoffs. Unless you are willing to trade Hughes. Whatever we have to offer, a team with cap space like Anaheim or LA can easily outbid Vancouver.

With our luck, we would make the trade and then he would clinch the cup against us with the game winning goal.
