-Vintage Canuck-
Penguins Acquire Defenseman Trevor Daley from the Chicago Blackhawks in Exchange for Rob Scuderi: Quote The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired defenseman Trevor Daley from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Rob Scuderi, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford. Daley is signed through the 2016-17 season and his contract carries an average annual value of $3.3 million. Daley, 32, was in his first season with the Blackhawks after spending his first 11 years with the Dallas Stars. He had six assists and was plus-1 in 29 games with Chicago this year. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound blueliner had the best offensive year of his career last season in Dallas, tallying 16 goals, 22 assists and 38 points in 68 contests. His goal, assist and point totals were all career highs. He also had a career-best six power-play goals. Daley’s 16 goals last season ranked fifth among all NHL blueliners, trailing only Oliver Ekman-Larsson (23), Erik Karlsson (21), Dustin Byfuglien (18) and Brent Burns (17). A Toronto, Ontario native, Daley has surpassed the 25-point mark in five of his last six full seasons. He’s been a plus player in seven of his last nine seasons. Daley has appeared in 785 career NHL games with Chicago and Dallas, tallying 67 goals, 170 assists and 237 points with 517 penalty minutes and a plus-7. The lefthanded-shooting D-man has added seven points (4G-3A) in 35 postseason contests. Daley broke into the NHL during the 2003-04 campaign. His 756 career games with Dallas rank eighth in franchise history and fourth among defensemen. His 231 points (67G-164A) as a Stars’ player rank seventh all-time among Dallas defensemen. Originally drafted by Dallas in the second round (43rd overall) of the 2002 NHL Draft, Daley played four seasons of junior hockey with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League between 1999-2003, serving as team captain his final year. http://penguins.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=792679&cmpid=pit-twt-penguins

TheRussianRocket.
Scrub for scrub with Daley having a better shot at succeeding. Scuderi can't skate but he is a soon to be Allstar
King Heffy
Hawks trying to replace what Oduya brought. Don't like this deal for Pittsburgh either, they aren't exactly short of offensive blueliners.
73 Percent
Daley wasn't doing anything offensively and is not great defensively. Why not trade him for someone who is at least good at one end of the ice. For the pens I think this is just a swing for the fence kind of deal. Hoping he can replace letang while he's out for a couple weeks. I like it both ways. Like biodome.
Fanuck
Rutherford's DESPERATE! Pens need to get rid of Jim before he does more harm than good (ie. trade Malkin)!

BanTSN
The Hawks must have really hated Daley. Scuderi is a proven winner, but a bit past prime. He loves this trade, and might be better in the west.
Monty
Chicago wins out. Daley wasn't producing offensively, but he has always been atrocious defensively. So he was literally dead weight for the Hawks. At least Scuderi will provide something defensively. As for the Pens, they replace a stable defensive defenseman for an offensive defenseman who isn't producing offensively and will be a huge liability defensively. WHL rocks
Pens retain 1/3 of Scuderi's salary. Looks like Q just wanted Dailey off his team for some reason. Pretty much a cap dump by Bowman and he gets back a defensive minded depth Dman.

Both teams fill a need
oldnews
Quenneville didn't care for Daley's misadventures - couldn't trust him. Highest ozone starts on the Hawks blueline - weakest quality of competition - no production regardless, and just way too many blown coverages and ill advised adventures in gifting the opposition with odd-man rushes. Obviously, Daley going to Pittsburgh will make him a better defensive blueliner lol. The Hawks got someone responsible - the Pens got someone that fits.....porous
DeNiro
Both carry the same term and cap hits. Chicago obviously wants someone more reliable. Scuderi is a cup winner and will probably elevate his game in Chicago under Quennville. Hawks win this trade IMO. Daley has not brought the skill set they were hoping for.
