      Forum-specific Rules   07/11/2017

These are board specific rules for the Trades and Rumors forum designed to provide organization and a better experience for everyone. Please review these rules before posting new threads.
THREAD ETIQUETTE   1. Please search for an existing thread before posting. This forum can be very fast moving, so it's understandable if redundant threads are inadvertently posted. In such a case, please use the report feature to request removal of redundant threads.    2. Provide a clearly identifiable topic title so that users can readily understand the content. The title should include any and all teams involved, as well as player names or other personnel involved as appropriate.   3. All trades, signings, rumors and other news MUST include a linkable source. Simply posting the name of the source is not enough. Effort should also be made to copy and paste the full article, or at the very least the relevant portion of text from the source to the first post of the thread. Moderators may remove low-quality threads in favour of high-quality threads.

Affixed to the front of your title should be a label that identifies the type of transaction that is taking place. For all trades use [TRADE]. For all signings use [SIGNING]. For all waiver-wire transactions use [WAIVERS]. For all rumours use [RUMOUR].
For articles or news items that don't fit into the above categories, affix an appropriate label of your choice such as [NEWS], [ARTICLE] or [MISC].   4. When the status of a thread changes a new thread can be created. The new thread should reflect the change and help focus the discussion on current events. e.g. Someone may create a new thread when a rumor becomes a trades. The old thread will be locked by the moderating team.    5. Do not misrepresent the contents of your thread or post false trades or rumors. Trolling will result in a permanent suspension.

SOURCES   The following source types are considered INVALID. Any links to posts or threads on other message boards Any links to personal blogs Any news heard on the radio that does not have a link to an audio vault or podcast Any news seen on television that does not have a link to online video Any news spread by word of mouth
Additionally, certain sources may be be blacklisted due to poor credentials, clear traffic-mongering etc. Blacklisted sources will be posted here.
Thank you for your co-operation and please PM the Administrator or Moderators if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions regarding this forum.

I think the Canucks won't like the cost. Carolina isn't looking for quantity for quality deals.  They'd want a high end piece in return

With Dudley and Wandell in charge, anything goes in Carolina. I'd love to see Hanifin as a Canuck. And I could see a framework of Baertschi for Hanifin (with other pieces "equalizing things" thrown in for good mesasure). I'm curious what a Canucks offer is, honestly.

So we're trading Juolevi/1st this year for Hanafin? That is where the conversation starts.

Word out of Carolina is they want to get better fast, since they've been losing so much profit lately so I'm not really too sure if they'd want picks or prospects

Baertschi wouldn't even get the conversation started

Look up Rick Dudley and Don Waddell's trading history when they were in charge of the Atlanta Thrashers. They literally traded Ilya Kovalchuk for a bag of pucks. Anything goes with those two. That's why I threw out Baertschi's name. Rick & Don are literally the worst management tandem in the salary cap era and now they're in charge of Carolina.

Damn. Hanifin would really help out the Canucks defense. I'll leave it up to Jimbo to figure out a package.

I could see them asking for Virtanen and a decent roster piece seeing as how they could use some size up front.  Maybe they would want Sutter back, or maybe they would take a package of Baertschi + Virtanen for Hanifin   I don't see us trading Jake though I'm just spitballing here

A scenario I could see happening is we package 7 for Hanifin, then say swap Tanev for another high 1st. Would take a lot, but Hanifin is exactly what we need.

Would be a fantastic add for the future core, just not sure how we get a trade done. What do we seriously have that Carolina would want?

Or some idiot will suggest trading Virtanen.

Hanafin is a quality player who is not yet fully developed as an NHL Dman.  As a fan of the Canes, he can be a frustrating player as you know he often has more to give but other times, you see "Norris talk" like games from him.   Carolina is a bit of a mess in the net unless the Darling experiment sorts itself out.   Who knows how they view things going forwards but they could be interested in one of the Canucks big Swedes in net (they have G prospects but not quite ready).   They would really like a player like Sutter too.

Can we just all agree now that Jim is going to include a 2nd? just get that out of the way.

But it would be worth it. I'm not convinced that a package of players is out of the question either - CAR only has 8 F's + 3 RFAs and 3 D + 2 RFAs under contract so they could certainly upgrade on some F positions. But... it will take us losing someone in the future core.

Gaudette, Baer, Hutton + 2nd for Hanifin and Staal?
