billabong
Benn is one of my favourite players so My judgement might be a little foggy i see this is a cap dump thing for dallas. They’re gonna be in on karlsson, there’s permanent bad blood and they might wanna turn the page on the benn regime noooooo way would I deal horvat. Not even in a one for one Hanzal has been a disaster for Dallas and has 1 year left on his deal at 4.75m so if we could take that off their hands it would water down the asking price To dal: gaudette, goldobin, hutton, 1st pick 2020 (top 10 protected) to van: benn, hanzal benn has a 9.5m cap hit for 6 more years and is coming off a 63 point year. His value is not that high and if it is then I’m out on acquiring him

Popular Post VIC_CITY
Not sure what i think about this. At first the idea seems intriguing. But the deeper you dig, the more doubts you get. First of all, Benn has shown no interest in playing for Vancouver in the past. His family lives on Van Island and they probably would have loved that but he has never been the type of guy that likes the spotlight. Life in Dallas and life in Vancouver are worlds apart. Jamie can walk the streets and for the most part go unnoticed. How will that affect a guy that doesn't like the attention? How will he deal with the Vancouver media who will surely be all over him if he's only going to score 50 points for $9.5M. There's also the party rumours. Vancouver Island is a small place and according to some, at least at one point, Jamie partied HARD. I haven't heard anything in over a few years now so maybe he's curbed that but it's definitely an area of concern given our team is full of young, impressionable players. But like I said, maybe that's all in the past. Jamie is also the only NHL player I've met, although briefly, as I used to work with his mother when he got drafted and through his ELC. He didn't say 2 words to me when we met, just shook my hand, that was it and that's the kind of person he comes across as. Not the most approachable guy. Obviously Jamie is a great player. But is he the right fit in that locker room? Is he the right fit for our cap structure? I'm so not sure about that. I'd rather go after a 50 point guy in free agency for half the term and 2/3s the price. Edited May 11, 2019 by VIC_CITY 1

Furthermore, Eriksson has a history in Dallas and has a history of producing. That being said, I don't actually believe Benn for Eriksson would be a good deal for Dallas. That's a rip off lol.

Nucker 67
How much value does Goldobin have, in comparison to Virtanen? Goldy - 24 at start of season. 19 - 27 = 46 in 124 games Jake - 23 at start of season. 32 - 27 = 59 in 210 games
J-Dizzle
#10 straight across.... I haven’t looked at whether that makes cap issues but that’s what I’d look at doing. Only way it happens is if he - as previous posters have mentioned - pulls a Kesler.
Popular Post J-P
Benn is 30 and have 6 years left at 9 mil with a NMC for all 6 years. He was great in the playoffs, but you can argue he's not a 9 mil player now. He definitely won't be in 2-3 years. Oh, right about when the Canucks might be good again and need the cap space to contend, then... So as intriguing as it sounds first - hard pass. 1 2

It was a bad year for him... and most of the Dallas roster. The year before that he scored 36 goals and 79 points. He is a PPG player consistently. I take the risk it was an off year any day. A PPG top line LW who plays physical hockey... if you asked Benning his exact wish list it would be that and a RD with a point shot. Folks can argue about the price, but if anyone says they don’t want Benn as a player, even at that contract, they have been huffing too much glue. 1

Phil_314
I would be down to get him, though as others mentioned it depends on the price. Benning seems like the type to jump on buy-low deals and if this is one I could see something happen. Agreed with 10th overall, Jake (really hasn't shown much at this point) and Eriksson (cap return) as a starting point, maybe one more asset if needed (Baertschi?). Between Heiskanen, Lindell and Oleksiak though, I don't see them needing an unproven Juolevi on their left side D.
smithers joe
i think boeser would have to be going the other way. i never works out that the other team takes what we want to give. would you trade pettersson for a couple of unproven players or players on the down side of their careers? would you trafe petey for virtanen and juolevi or louie and sutter?
