This BS is just as likely window dressing & kabuki theatre. Rest assured there'll prob be no more Cups in Canada for ANOTHER 25 yrs!

Plus for using Kabuki Theatre!

Canucks could have taken on retained salary for Brassard as he only has one year left on his contract. Would CDC have been as upset if the Canucks had gained a draft pick doing this? I know they would have exploded if the league would not approved the trade.

It is silly how the NHL picks and chooses what is OK.

Trading for a player permanently retired due to injury... well that is A-OK by them and their response is that it is an asset and can be moved.

Try to make a three way trade retaining salary along the way.... no way, that is not fair ball.

Signing a back diving contract when it was perfectly legal to do so... wait a minute, you can't do that and not only will we outlaw it, we will retroactively punish you for those ones we originally approved.

  • -Vintage Canuck- changed the title to [Trade] Derick Brassard trade being re-worked (Senators/Penguins/Knights)

http://ottawasun.com/sports/hockey/nhl/ottawa-senators/senators-gm-pierre-dorion-is-taking-a-solid-trade-record-into-mondays-deadline

ACQUIRED: Matt Duchene

BREAKDOWN: The Senators also lost Kyle Turris in this three-team deal that included the Nashville Predators, and for a few weeks it looked they were big-time losers in the trade. However, Duchene has regained his old form and has been outstanding for the past month and a half. With Bowers projected to be a third-line NHLer and the first-rounder-to-come so unpredictable, the Senators appear to be the clear-cut winners.

GRADE: B+

Canucks deffinetly wouldn't have gotten away with it. I wouldn't have minded it, but the league probably would have been on defcon five and fined the canucks for the next decade if they tried it.

"After reviewing the trade it has been determined that Pittsburgh must give Vegas a higher draft pick and a top prospect. Furthermore Jim Rutherford must purchase Golden Knights season tickets and only stay at the MGM grand while staying in Las Vegas."
