But still, quality over quantity... I'm sure they'd want that pick that the Avs have back now lol

Confirmation bias guy says the Islanders are doing just fine without Tavares and nothing to show for him. The NHL is getting closer and closer to the NFL style salary cap where you just cut your fading stars and move on. OFC the system is buoyed by draft picks being starters from day one but I think that most of the NHL is just scared to let their rookies play prominent roles out of the gate. The old mentality of 'they're not ready and need to learn the game' is hogwash and needs to go away.

Warhippy
Phew, he DID manage to squeeze at least a first out so there's that I guess. If Duchene does re-sign this deal doesn't look so bad. Just Jack Hughes or Kaapo Kako for a 1st, 2 nobodies and a possible extra first. So worth it.

rekker
I like the deal for the Sens. I like what they are doing and with the Stone and Dzingel chips still to fall I love it. They have Chabot and Tachuk and a lot of picks and prospects. Good move IMHO

Duchene is not a top tier player. He is second tier. Great trade for the Sens.
Camel Toe Drag
Hopefully they get at least 2 more first from Stone. This is an awful return for an NHL star.

Tortorella's Rant
Seems like a weak ass return for a PPG player.

Lol, chances are Ottawa is losing that 2020 conditional 1 RD pick, once Duchene plays under Tortorella he won't want to resign there
Losing With Pride
I think everyone forgets about Bowers who was part of the Duchene trade. On top of the first and third round picks.
Nucker 67
Good deal for the Sens. Douche-ayne is gone from the room, and they get a 1st back this year at the Draft, and it could be a decent spot. CBJ might not even make the playoffs. Down by the River
It makes no sense to me that teams would agree to conditional 1st rd picks on the basis of that player re-signing with his new team. New team will be less motivated. If there is going to be any condition, make it based on playoff performance. Teams aren't going to sacrifice playoff performance to retain picks, but they might be willing to forego re-signing a guy to retain picks.
Bure_Pavel
Pretty standard trade for a great rental, a first round and two prospects. Abramov is a pretty good prospect.
