They needed to shed salary and take none back - it virtually had to be Miller for picks/prospects,  not roster guys.

Trading more picks would probably not be in this team's best interest at this moment.

It's deals like this that reminds me that Benning is so bad with trades.

 

Vancouver managed to pay more for Gudbranson compared to what Buffalo paid for to get Miller. 

 

Plus Vancouver could have easily offered the same deal than Buffalo for Miller.
