Lancaster
Goaltending is still a question mark. So far Markstrom has had only 2 decent years. It's still unknown where his strong play will keep going. Defense still a bit weak too. If Edler regains his old form and Tanev is injury fee... then sure the Canucks has a pretty good defense corp. That being said... a playoff spot and maybe winning a round or two shouldn't be out of the realm of possibilities.
Master 112
We have a couple of years left, but we should be pushing for a playoff berth this year.

Metal Face Doom
Baby steps. We've made some great moves but let's temper expectations. We still have glaring holes and there are a lot of question marks. However, I think we all like the progression we are witnessing. 1

Elias Pettersson
The young core: Pettersson, Boeser, Virtanen, BO, Hughes, Stecher, Demko, Motte The under 30 veterans: Miller, Ferland, Leivo, Pearson, Myers, Markstrom The young prospects on the way: Madden, Tryamkin, Hoglander, Podkolzin, Gaudette, DiPietro, Juolevi, Woo, Rathbone, Brisebois, MacEwen Yes the rebuild is complete. We just need to wait for the young prospects to join the big club. Until then we will still be relying on our veterans like Edler, Beagle, Roussel, Tanev, etc. In 2 years most of those young prospects should hit the big club.

D-Money
36 minutes ago, Alain Vigneault said: Not even close. Outside of Hughes, we have barely any good defenders in the system. Juolevi/Woo could be something but who knows. No decent forward prospects outside of Podkolzin (two years anyway) and Hoglander. Goaltending is above average so maybe we can move somebody out to fix defence or forwards. It's a step in the direction by making playoffs but this team still has many holes and issues all around. Agree with this. Although the team has taken a step forward on the roster, they need to continue to accumulate picks/prospects. Ideally, we won't need to trade them for roster help going forward. I think with the lack of D depth in the system, they should continue to stock via the NCAA/euro route. Rafferty and Teves were a nice start, but I would have liked for them to also go for a more offensive puck-moving D, such as Oliwer Kaski (signed by Detroit), or Tony Sund (signed by San Jose). And with no D from this past draft, they should be the priority in 2020. 1

I agree. I like this lineup. Top 6 is skilled and heavy. That third line is skilled, plus hard hitting with Jake on it. The 4th line is really strong. I would take that 4th line over most in the league. Let's just hope they can stay healthy for the most part. That lineup gives us a chance at playoffs. Especially if Marky continues his strong play, and Demko builds on a strong finish to last season. It just feels good going into the season with a realistic chance at playoffs. I am tired of losing to be honest. Go Canucks Go!

Assume that lineup: Out from our opening day roster in 2018: Del Zotto, Erikkson, Granlund, Gudbranson, Leipsic, Pouliott, Neilson, Goldobin, Sutter In for 2019: Hughes, Ferland, JT Miller, Meyers, Benn, Gaudette, Leivo, Demko, Pearson Not many teams have improved that much over the past year. 1

We don't have quite the high-end talent as some of the best teams, but what we lack in high-end talent, we appear to make up for in depth. I for one am a proponent of depth. E.g. I would take two solid 6 million dollar players over one 12 million dollar player any day. Heh, I know it's not what you intended but now I can't get Eriksson/Lucic >> Auston Matthews Out of my head 1
