Okay, so if you're a new or existing Canuck forward, where do YOU want your name written in the lineup?

Surely the biggest choice for Mr. Green going into this season is, WHO rides shotgun on the Petey/Brock line, and thus sees his point total skyrocket into the stratosphere?

Many figure that JT Miller is probably the more skilled offensive choice to slot in, but then there are others that think the Ferkster should be on line 1 to provide a police escort for Big Petey on his way to goaltown. And then there's the dark horse candidate, Loui "The Sniper" Eriksson!

Could there possibly be another Canuck forward lurking in the midst of the depth chart that could be a surprise pick to play sidekick to the Dynamic Duo?

Vote and discuss!

Spoiler

Also LTIR trades should be outlawed and retroactively penalized kthx

Why not -

Ferland - Petey - Miller

Baer - Bo - Brock

This way we get intensity from the top 6, and we also don’t need to worry about our stars getting hurt. Boeser goes back to what seemed to work better (at least by the eye test) and Petey now gets 2 guys who’ll pass him the puck more often, but can shoot well too.

Ferland on the top line if Boeser stays there though. We need a police officer and he could get pretty good offence there as well.

This might be a little from left field but how about

Ferland-Horvat-Boeser

Pearson-Petey-Miller

Legit sniper on both lines

Solid two way play on both lines

Good forecheck and board play on both lines

Though they might not produce a point per game player there could definitely be 3 70 point players, Horvat Petey and Boeser and the rest 50-60 guys.

For the poll I voted Ferland with Petey and Boeser

I feel like an outsider on this, but I would like to see Pearson on that line. I feel like he's the type of guy who can keep up with the elites but can't produce on his own... Maybe better utilized with top players.

I feel like Miller and Bo think the game similarly and would work well together.  Ferland is the best option to protect EP40 while chipping in some offense.  Eriksson's only chance at being a 1st liner is if he accepts an assignment to the ECHL.

Good post.

Actually a great question...

Think they will have to try the various scenarios, but what it shows, are the possibilities we now have in the top 6 as well as the depth.

After Pearsons showing last season, where he was one of the shining lights on a line with Bo, it's quite the thought that he'll be demoted to the third line, but with everyone healthy that might just be the case.

Ferland - Pettersson - Boeser

Baertschi - Bo - Miller

Pearson - Sutter - Jake/Motte

Roussel/Leivo - Beagle - McEwan/Gaudette/Mott/Jake

Baring a sudden resurgence from Eriksson just don't see him slotting in anywhere.

It's been a long time since Canucks had that sort of depth in their line up.

Ferland - Pettersson - Boesser

Pearson - Horvat - Miller

Baertschi - Sutter - Virtanen

Leivo - Beagle - Motte

Top line has a wrecker, a passer/sniper, a sniper

2nd line has a shooter, a wrecker/shooter, and a distributor

3rd line has a distributor, defensive centre/shooter, a wrecker

4th line has a wrecker, defensive centre, and a speedster

Think you could count on Ferland causing enough destruction and chaos to allow shooting lanes for the 2 snipers, as well as tipping in, knocking in trash.  It'll be entertaining.

Miller is a very good passer, you have a guy that can knock them in from the dots, and Horvat does love to go to the net.

Sutter isn't a distributor, but Baertschi has good skills in that area, and if they can get Virtanen good enough to read the play, that line could put in an average of 20 goals apiece.  That's an effective 3rd line, with defensive responsibilities.

4th line, Beagle wins the face off, Leivo has great corsi for, and motte skates like the wind.  If each guy can put up 10-15 goals each, watch out.

Using wrecker instead of mucker.  It is creative license, and when you see the way virtanen skates, and how Ferland forechecks, I'm hoping it is closer to the truth :)  Horvat in and of himself definite skates thru the crowd with authority.  None of them have Bertuzzi's ability to game break, but they definitely know how to use the body to shield the puck, keep possession, and make the others on the ice take notice.

Miller is very good at setting up shooters and Brock and Elias are great shooters.  He also has some grit in his game.

I also think Bo would be a lot of fun with Ferland and Pearson if he is the one we had after the deadline or Jake if we get the Pearson from before the deadline.

It will all go in the blender anyway so should get to see lots of options including some of Brock and Bo.

I want Ferland out there with Petey, even though I believe JT would produce better. Ferland is a little tougher, more aggressive on the forecheck and better known for standing up for team mates. I kinda like the idea of splitting up EP and Brock too. Put EP between Miller and Ferland and let Bo and Boeser run with either Bearcheese or Pearson and you have two pretty difficult lines to match up with.

It is so nice to have actual depth to think about instead of wondering if Chaput or Megna should be in the top six...

I think that Miller starts on the top line but the way Green mixes up the lines, this may last a period or less.  It's really hard to tell how things will settle out until they start playing.

The interesting thing is that the Canucks new found forward depth pushes some players who were playing top 6 last year and makes the bottom 6 stronger.

Miller Pettersson Boeser

Pearson Horvat Ferland

Baertschi Sutter Virtanen

Leivo Beagle Motte

and we have good players waiting in the wings and on LTIR....Roussel, Schaller, Goldobin, Gaudette and MacEwen.....any of these players could slot in at any point

It is a good problem to have when there are capable NHL players in the minors

It's hard to not want Ferland to fit with Petey and Boeser on the physical aspect alone. Also, I think we shouldn't sleep on a healthy Baertschi fitting in there. Good two way guy. Personally, I really hope Ferland fits in with them. Don't really want him on the 2nd line, since they'll likely be getting 40% ozone starts, the 60-70% ozone starts with Petey will be better for him. Pearson/Baer Horvat and Miller will be a really good two way line imo. Miller has some playmaking prowess that'll go well with the Horvat and one of Baer or Pearson. None of which are prominent playmakers.

Good post.

Ferland Bo Miller would be a badass second line!
