He produced at the same rate as Virtanen (0.37) while playing top-6 with the team's best players and on PP1 where he had 4pts in 130 minutes.

I think this is Leivo's bubble year or even half season.  Like Baertschi lol.   He is a placeholder too.  The fact he was MIA in the pre-season isn't the issue, it's the other players who are actually here and who have a better pedigree.  (Who I thought included Baertschi, which shows we are all taking Baertschi for granted, ranking him in the top 9 forwards.)

Still, Leivo is here until Podkolzin, Lind etc., make their place.  True of Pearson too I suspect.  Ferland is different and his contract reflects that.

I agree, but Baertschi (like Eriksson, as you say) can't play bottom 3.  And top 9 is now kind of set?

Maybe he slips through and we bring him back up later.

Re: Eriksson: he cannot possibly be in the Canucks plans.  There must be a deal or something in the works, or one more cut?  No idea why he is still here when someone like Baertschi is disposable.

Eriksson at least adapted his game from being a 30 goal scorer to a defensive specialist. He played pretty good with Pearson and Bo too.

My favorite part of this morning is watching all the people who said that undoubtedly Loui and schaller would be gone now have to deal with the decisions made by management.

Remember that there is still the possibility of trades as well as the sure return of Roussel.

I can't see Eriksson surviving here much longer.  I wouldn't be surprised to see the fans booing him every time he steps on the ice.

Since he was acquired....Bo, Boeser, EP, Miller, Ferland and most recently Gaudette.

St Louis won with Bozak and Thomas on their 3rd lines.  If you want to be a contending team, you need skill on your 3rd line.  The 4th line what most teams consider their checking units these days.

I would hope the fans have more class than that.

Problem is, where you gonna move Loui? I doubt anyone is trading for him. I don't think he's part of the long term plan but I think his contract is gonna be hard to move. Also it may surprise you but many people, especially rich people hate wasting money. I think after this year the odds of moving Loui are better. But if I was the owner and I had a 6 million dollar player in Utica I'd be very unhappy.

I am also under the impression that Green doesn't really like Baertschi. It always seemed like this to me. I don't know why I just always got that feeling

With the waiving and assignment to Utica of Biega, I guess Fantenberg is OK?  He's the only spare D remaining unless I'm missing something.

Also, assuming there are no other moves, my guess is Schaller will be waived once Roussel is healthy.

Ya, the Fantenberg thing is interesting. No confirmation that he's healthy yet, and some radio guys have predicted the Canucks making a waiver claim on D. We'll see.

Sven missed a lot of games last year. I don’t think this is the last we will see of him on the Canucks. He won’t get claimed and he will be back up in a month when someone gets injured.

Or Edmonton picks him up and he gets 65 points beside McD.

He's very likely going to get claimed, he is a top 6 when healthy.

remember last year when folks were wondering if Beartschi's career was over?

it was not that long ago.

what if he tears it up for 15 games then suffers a season or career ending injury?

Does that make Jim a bad GM?

That's just as much an argument to waive Loui as it is to keep him
