Part of the reason I'd prefer another defenseman to play on the PP with Hughes. Hughes was deeper in the offensive zone. Having Edler or Myers back there as well would've helped there.

This powerplay has been terrible. It has no "purpose".

 

There's no triggerman, no form to it. The reason the Petey/Boeser powerplays are scary are the twin triggers on each circle. That Horvat PP had nothing offensive to it.

Quinn was going for a backdoor look but didn't make sure Bo saw him before doing so.

Tierney is a different circumstance, he took *out* a player. I'm not saying he should be cross checked into the glass, but he should answer the bell for it.

 

Let's say Beagle, so it's the same guy, drops the gloves on the opening faceoff with Tierney for the scrap. No issue, even if he gets an extra two, even if we get scored on. No issue.

With all the turnover on defence the last few seasons and ending up with the same result, it's time to look at putting Baumgartner into the airlock and sending him space-worthy.
Whatever he's telling all these guys to do, is clearly not working.
Yeah, we're scoring more but the D looks as porous as it ever has so far.
