and how does any of that relate at all to what I posted?

Jared mccann spoils that, but I'll let it slide because he was a bonus pick.

Something about sliding and it was a bonus pick. In my mind it's stupid to judge draft picks when many of them don't turn out anyway and we're not GM's either. I mean it's clearly easy to see the result 6 years later but that doesn't an expert make.

It wasn't really a response to you particularly just to all the people that think they can draft better and the idea that GM's draft bad hockey players because they are idiots, trying to ruin the team, and Joe Blow and his wifi connection could do better.

In my defence I was drunk and had no knowledge of any previous posts regarding said post.

Apparently, Gaudette had some health issues that affected him staying at game weight, which has been tested and looked after. Look to him to be stronger this year, all he needs is a brain download from Malhotra, and he’ll be fine. Staying after practice to work with Malhotra would be advisable for him, MacEwen, Lockwood, Jasek, Bailey, and Michaelis. Need guys equipped to take third/fourth line roles and PK/checking specialists, but who can transition like Motte (and like how the young Burrows and Kesler used to do.

I agree, unfortunately Malholtra is with Toronto now

It's just bad optics to have players like Jake who is being paid 2.5$ mill a year to not be in top 6 when a rookie like Hollander who is unproven, small and worth nothing in terms of salary would be given such an amazing chance.

It's inconceivable, its so hard for a rookie to even play a few games in the NHL let alone be placed on a 2nd line right off the bat like what?

It looks so bad to have dozens of millions of dollars parked away in the bottom 6 (Erikson, Sutter, beagle, jake) how can a team be competitive in today's NHL when half the salary are complete write offs - people all over the NHL should be praising how well Canucks are doing with what they got considering half the salary cap is wasted.

ridiculously good like petey coming into league as a ppg player

Pete is a bona-fide superstar and was expected to to be a pp player from his rookie season. Hoglander is a nobody who most of us never heard of, any true hockey fan knows he won't hang on to the top 6 it seems silly to place someone there that won't end up there. The top 6 spot was for Jake not an unproven small rookie, I have every right to be doubtful.

...wrong...

but that wasn't even the topic at hand, guy. the person I responded to said every canucks' 1st rounder since 2014 would be in the lineup once podkolzin joins, and I said mccann spoils that, since he was a canucks' 1st rounder in 2014 who isn't in the canucks lineup.

don't insert yourself in conversations without actually reading them. learn how to internet.

Currently Gaudette sucks. He should work on hockey more and live streaming less. I don't trust him as a center.

Maybe he should crawl into a hole when he has to spend all the hours in his hotel:picard:

This is a really bad take. "Bona fide superstars" are slim pickings.  Even some projected to be don't always pan out and you really don't know how a player will do until they get to the NHL and it actually plays out.  I won't list them, but many who aren't projected as superstar go on to become them.

Where they're listed and picked in a draft really ends there.  It's a wish list, especially away from the top picks.

To overlook a guy who's showing so much potential and ignoring what he IS showing by calling him a nobody?  Maybe you aren't hearing because you're not listening.

I'm going to go out what those watching him are noticing and wish him the best of luck.  Not sure what you're doing.

As for Jake....he has tools in his toolbox that every team would love to have....it's worth the patience to see if he learns to use them all with success.  I'd hate for another team to benefit from the work we've put in with Jake If (and when) he does reach his full potential.  But he's going to have to earn it and it's nice that we have some in squad competition that will help drive the fight for spots.

Anyone who has been following the Canucks has heard of Hoglander... I guess you are new to the Canucks. Welcome. In case you missed it, Green said that you have to put rookies in a position to succeed and that those that look like they belong on the roster, will belong on the roster. Jake has no spot in the top 6 unless he looks like he deserves it. Apparently so far he does not.

It looks so bad.

I think you're too focused on this part.

It's not how we "look"....as a Canuck fan you'd better toughen up because to the rest of the league, we always look bad.

It's how they play.   Image isn't everything...points are.

You've called him Hollander, Hollanger and the first step is for you to do your homework.  We've done ours.

If you don’t know what your talking about please stop saying gibberish. If you don’t know much about hockey and the Canucks maybe research or ask questions before you post. Please and thank you. You are clogging up the neutral zone on this thread and only feeding us crap so we respond. I should have just ignored this but I can’t stand people bashing players and coaches when they do not know what they are talking about

Can someone make a thread that's for random arguing, horse beating, and misc jibber jabber so that threads, such as this training camp one, can be used for what they're designed to be?

Aye yi yi, every day I have to read through a handful of pages for updates to unfortunately find too much of the former before landing on a morsel of the latter. Never mind, this is CDC; I'm now reminded of George Bush, so this one's on me.

It's a discussion board and people have differing opinions so there will be some back and forth.  Especially in a year where things are out of whack and the stress levels are high....with decisions being made, people are chiming in with their ideas.

I imagine that when the season gets rolling there will be more "focused" discussion.  Right now, we all have way too much time on our hands and that is likely some of what you're seeing.  Hang in there!

im happy jakes  shown up at camp jacked in best shape ive seen awesome that hes gonna prove all the jake haters in here wrong.    We  have players pushing for top six spots  virtanen hoglander probably podkolzin in april its a good thing watch us suprise nhl all yr. We are lucky benning is  drafting all these good players watch  juolevi rathbone  hoglander podkolzin  push for spots and gaudette  get better at 3rd center spot as well

Good post. It’s not about who goes here and there right now. It’s about players pushing for spot and pushing each other to be better players. Jake not practicing in the top 6 just means there’s more work to be done. We will see him there at points thorough out the season I have no doubt. The lines won’t stay the same all year lol
