Considering there were no pre-season, one thing that may have gone in the Canucks’ way would’ve been Tanev and Markstrom’s longevity with the team.

The Canucks are still rebuilding. Let’s consider we have two rookies out there on defense; Juolevi and Chatfield.

Tanev was Hughes confidant. Those two were inseparable. Markstrom I understand. But this team is a dumpster fire. I get we have to make room for the rookies but Tanev and Toffoli were the glue during the bubble. Kind of like the dude and his rug.

I think Jims big plan was to wait for 2021 to start the rebuild. Maybe it is time to do this right. At least the next GM will have some solid pieces to work with. Minimal no trade clauses.
