Dahlen's stats

2019-20 Timra IK Swe-1 51 36 41 77 42 29
2020-21 Timra IK Swe-1 45 25 46 71 10 30

77 pts in 51

71 pts in 45

He kind of ripped it up in Sweden.

This is Linus Karlsson, the guy we traded Dahlen for.

2019-20 Bofors IK Swe-1 12 6 12 18 0 0
2020-21 Bofors IK Swe-1 52 20 31 51 32 26

Could this be another Benning blunder?

There is no real way to frame it as such until one of them actually makes a material impact on either club.... that isn't likely to happen for either player really.

One guy getting more points in Europe doesn't move the needle at all on the trade.

What's hilarious about this is that Dahlen didn't even wait the SAME YEAR, let alone wait until training camp/the year after to pout about his ice time/usage. He just assumed that he'd get his ice time, and yet didn't enjoy his stints on TWO AHL teams (the one in SJ as well).

SJ was near the bottom of the standings at the time of the trade, and STILL couldn't earn the trust of his team to provide offence.

Tiimrafan is just gonna make excuses, as usual, about "neanderthal" coaching. Instead of blaming his Dahlen for being self-entitled. I was actually pretty happy about the trade with Burrows. Thought Benning got a STEAL because of his chemistry with Pettersson. Dahlen ruined that.

Dahlen's season ended on another concussion after only 7 games in San Jose.   It was his 2nd of the season after already having one in Utica.  He decided it was best to spend another season in Sweden to get his confidence/game back.   Then Covid happened so it probably delayed his return.

Maybe you should wait to see if either actually play an NHL game before you declare the trade a "Benning blunder"...

Ditto, he still has to prove himself in the NHL.

Karlsson is two years younger.

At 23 you normally see a prospect move up into the SHL. It’s like if a prospect was ripping up the AHL at 23. It’s not as impressive as it looks.

He (Dahlen) actually regressed when you look at the stats.

I have a very sour taste over how Dahlen handled himself here. All this talk about being buddies with Pettersson, but couldn't even finish the year in the AHL and got himself shipped out.

Yes. Also to be mentioned, this is, I believe, Dahlen's third season there. As someone else pointed out, Karlsson is 2 years younger. I am not impressed with Dahlen's stats at all, given how he didn't actually improve from the year before.

Blame the neanderthal coaches that doesn't know anything about psychology instead. :bigblush:

Happy now? B)
