Come on... I agree. This is about as close a comparison as a person can find. I've been a massive fan of Weber since he entered the league and never did like Pronger very much. Do some research. There were concerns in 2020 that his ankle/foot injuries would end his career then. It’s not just one injury. It’s foot/ankle/hand. The fact that he even played this season is amazing. The guy is a warrior. check the date of that tweet. This isn’t a new issue. Correct me if I’m wrong, but the Luongo cap hit doesn’t actually mean the Canucks are paying that amount annually to anyone. It’s basically just meaning we can’t spend the amount up to the cap each year as a penalty. Without that cap hit, I assume ownership would feel obligated to be spending to the cap each of the last few years. Pronger was a force of nature, he was the huge piece behind Philly and Edmonton making the final, and a huge reason (alongside Neidermeyer) that Anaheim won it all. Not the mention the international bits. And the personal awards. He also played during an era where toughness was more prevalent, but continued to excel during the modern game. Having to deal with $7.85 LTIR for the next 5 seasons is a huge pain for Montreal. It really handcuffs them.
