lol for a guy that always had issues with his skating when he first entered the league he has made tremendous strides.. but fast? lol he's not known for his speed and never will..

He's faster than MacKinnon though lmao... Bo is not the fastest guy in the league, but he's definitely not slow either.

2017 NHL All Star Skills Competition - Fastest Skater

Atlantic Division vs. Metropolitan Division

Kucherov (13.160) vs. Atkinson (13.330) - Atlantic wins 1 point

Trocheck (13.320) vs. Simmonds (13.650) - Atlantic wins 1 point

Central Division vs. Pacific Division

Laine (13.420) vs. Horvat (13.430) - Central wins 1 point

MacKinnon (13.620) vs. McDavid (13.020) - Pacific wins 1 point

6m x 4 so we trade him in year 2. Or just trade him for a dman now

I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to retaining rights after a signing, but that aside, think 6mX3 works best for all. The reasoning is because it brings him to 28 at the end of the contract, which should allow for him to sign 1 more lucrative contract before he starts declining. At 6m, we slightly overpay if he has another down year, but it's a good value contract if he can play to his potential. I'd prefer not to see a NTC/NMC if at all possible so it gives us options in year 2, as you mentioned.

As far as trading him now - that became a bigger possibility with the Kuzmenko signing. We obviously need a defensive specialist more than we need Boeser... though there are several other ways to obtain such a player.

Yup I'm right there with you. I just went 4 years so we have 2 quality seasons in which we can try to drive his value up first... and still 2 years left so he's pretty enticing to however wants him

How bout we get rid of these dead weight plugs before anyone else! Starting with the biggest plug! Myers, Poolman, Dickinson and Pearson! Get rid of those guys before anyone else! Kinda stuck with OEL. Atleast try to get rid of those guys before making stupid decisions with Boeser and Miller!

This management team has their off-season cut out for them.

I expect plenty of movement leading up to the draft, and a ton of signings (Bo, for example) post draft.

This summer is a busy one, and this management doesn’t have any reasons to be lay low and sit back. They have a lot of work ahead of them.

I’m not sure the team can afford to lose both Miller and Brock, that’s a lot of goals and offense gone unless Petey, and some other players step up their offensive game even more

So do you actually believe that MacKinnon is just BARLEY faster then Simmonds like based on these numbers.

No, but I also don't actually believe Horvat is as slow as the guy makes him sound.  The eye test shows he blows past players on a regular basis.

Agreed. I think Horvat is a pretty great skater. I think there is zero chance he's faster the NM, who I'd say is a pretty safe bet for the top 5 skaters in the league.

As it was mentioned above I think another bridge deal for Boeser will be best for both sides. Sign him to a 2-3 year deal at about 6 million per. That gives him a little extra money compared to the 1 year at 7.5, but also sets himself up to have a better season and aim to sign one more big contract around 28 years old.

If I had to guess I think Boeser has the potential to have a big bounce back season. But at the same time it may take some time as his family is only just now dealing with their loss.

there'stop speed and then there's quickness.  NM is an elite skater in both categories, whereas Bo is very good at top speed, but it takes him a bit to get going.  NM is explosive

If we’re lucky,  another team will offer Boeser his QOffer,  we take the 2 or 4 draft picks and go shopping .

problem solved.

Canucks have to at least offer Boeser the QO ($7.5M) by July 11th  in order to retain his rights.  If they don’t, then he becomes UFA on July 13th (I think) and other teams don’t have to trade players/draft picks to get him.

Other teams can certainly try the offersheet route.  But $6.3-$8.4M = 1st + 2nd + 3rd (2023 draft).  Not sure many teams will be doing that.

I don’t believe Boeser is offersheet eligible.

Also can’t you still negotiate a multi year deal after you qualify a player?

Yes you can still negotiate a multi year deal after submitting the QO.

The QO must be offered by July 11th (this year it is July 11th) to retain Boeser rights or he becomes a UFA.

Why wouldn’t Boeser not be offersheet eligible?  If the QO is submitted but not accepted by Boeser, he’s still an RFA.  As an RFA, he should be still be eligible to receive an offersheet from other teams.  Unless there is a new rule I’m unaware of.

Not all RFA’s are offersheet eligible.
