All of these groups have very different challenges and hurdles in order to be accepted in sports that should be recognized. Using baseless terms like “hockey is for everyone” ignores the real issues that exist in sport. If you don't like what's there...home school might be the best option. No one is excluded from hockey but some are certainly targeted, shamed, bullied, abused. And we're trying to make that a thing of the past...something where not only is everyone included, but safely so and treated with dignity and equality. I love the exaggerations for extra emphasis though. Most who scream are those who are scared of change and somehow feel threatened by progress that doesn't sit within their comfort zones. The rest of us are trying to celebrate people by showing kindness. Not sure that fits your narrative though. But we are all also responsible for those opinions and any consequences that arise from them. Provorov made his bigoted position on gay people known when he refused to wear the pride jersey. He’s entitled to his opinion (within the law) but there will be consequences. Hopefully he, and those other players who are similarly bigoted, will not be the-signed when the contracts come up. And that every teams’ fan base makes it known to their ownership they don’t want such bigots representing their team.
