Finally he gets some minutes with the big club. An inexperienced "journeyman" who has played very well, and answered the coaching staff's bell every time they rang it. And kudos for giving another contract mirroring the one they gave Phil Di Pizza, where although it's a 2-way contract, he will be rewarded with a much better AHL salary if not up with the big dogs... We didn't have depth D in our system to re-sign. The pro scouting under Benning was definitely subpar. It seemed that everything that he did sign went to crap. I agree he’s still coming into his own at the pro level, though. He’s proven himself to be solid NHL depth (possibly even more) and emerged as an elite player this season in the AHL.
