I was the same these ads killed my interest in partaking entirely. It's nauseating.

Pretty much the exact opposite result of what they intended and I’m almost certain there’s a lot more people who feel the same.

Seems like a desperate cash grab to keep wages and revenue streams up.   Covid was tough on a lot business's.   I hope as stakeholders,  nobody is tempted to use these platforms.   Also what's up with Jamie Foxx.  Wasn't he a close to A lister awhile ago?   Get that whomever it is from breaking bad.  Couldn't seem to make a career after.  Did that other guy forget he can just go make some movies or something?   The entire thing is stanky.   Wonder what Theo Fluery thinks about this.   A guy in pain who went and gambled a million dollars a month for a couple years away when playing in NYR.    It's gross.    Won't buy a jersey ever, until they remove the gross logo's  from them.   So that probably means never now.    Gambling.   Might as well sell pot, booze or crack.   Don't see a big difference, the buzz is the same.

As someone who places more than a few wagers. I find the ads extremely distasteful. It's literally being shoved down people's throats and most can't handle wagering without it getting out of hand. It's like offering people crack.

They should treat it the same as cigarettes, you cannot advertise cigarettes on TV and this should be the same. Or at least restrict the ads to late at night. It's ridiculous.

Yep.

Out of all the ads I definitely dislike the gambling ones the most. It's getting out of control. I get it's a money maker, but just because you add a line telling the audience to play within their limits doesn't make it more okay. Ppl can choose to gamble at their own will, but it shouldn't be encouraged. I hope BC follows suit.

Wayne has a net worth of about $250 mill

Jamie Foxx is about $170 mill.

After what went down in Wayne's, and Rick Tochett's life earlier, in regards to gambling; I'm not impressed by Gretzky shilling for betting sites.

Didn't see this post, but I also thought of Jamie Foxx right away as well.  Yes what the heck.  How much money are they both making from this anyways.    Today names are more than ever, are considered brands.   How much freaking money do you need.   Narcissistic tendencies I get probably take over at some point.

Oh, wow ... did not expect this. I thought society had completely gone to s*** and no one had any more morals, ethics, values or the will to fight this.

FINALLY a stand against these ads. They've basically invaded and overwhelmed the public into accepting them ... with the help of some of our favorite stars who were bought off. Just brutal and disappointing.

I feel bad for families impacted by gambling and it's addictive hold it has on some people.

I don't mind some ads in moderation but also they've been normalizing gambling to a much younger generation.

I'm glad this is happening and hopefully other provinces follow suit.

About damn time, now the rest of the country needs to follow suit. If you didn’t know, gambling addiction out of all addictions has the highest rate of suicide. It’s disgusting, our country has allowed these things for far too long.

When I was a kid I enjoyed watching Cabbie on the Street. Now I can't stand that guy, Aaron Paul, Gretzky, Jamie Foxx, etc.

The fact that on a single station you would get ads from like 3-4 DIFFERENT gambling companies is insane. Coke would never agree to have their ad air in the same commercial break as a Pepsi ad. The same could be said for McDonalds/Burger King, Adidas/Nike, etc. It has to beg the question as to just how much money these companies are making, and how much of it is based on preying on people who have an addiction. They don't even have to worry about who they are competing with, they know they're going to make money.

Do you remember the Esso and Tony the Tiger adds? Vintage cool. Gambling is up there with smoking for bad news.
I’m only guessing but likely young guys think gambling is cool, considering the marketing it’s getting.

I'd love to see some anti-gambling ads broadcast during the games.  Stuff similar to what they put on cigarette boxes, or what MADD is doing with their commercials about driving drunk and/or high - maybe show some poor schlub down on their luck and homeless after pissing away their home and their savings on the online gambling sites, or a bunch of loan shark henchmen beating one of their casino "clients" to a pulp for trying to stiff them on the interest due.  Maybe even a young professional defenestrating themself to avoid having to face the losses they incurred (and money they now owe) from gambling.  Yeah!

Or they can show the evil neon claws of Gamblor

Hate to burst peoples bubbles. The rule seems to be no gambling ads with athlete's or celebrities.

It doesn't say presenters of TSN or Sportsnet can't talk about the ads. Or just ad's with a generic announcer.

What this might means you will probably see more of Cabbie (does he qualify as a celebrity?)

It doesn't stop the ads. It just stops certain people from appearing in the ads.

I think everyone understands that. Hopefully they can see from the visceral reaction here that people are sick of being beaten over the head with this.

I'd rather hear about Rybelsus for the 1000th time.
